8 years ago today. UNLV vs #15 UNM MWC Tourney Finals. I was up the upper bowl. The game was sold out. 2nd half 56-53 UNM Katin had a wide open 3 that could have tied the game (biggest shot in Rice’s coaching career) ball went in and out. UNM got the rebound and Tony Snell hits a 3 on the other end. UNLV have never recovered since.
We graduated Hawkins, Ant and Quintrell. Moser, Savon and Bennett played their last UNLV game.
5 MWC teams got a call from the NCAA that Sunday. UNLV, UNM, Boise, CSU and SDSU. Alford left for UCLA and I think Tim Miles left for Nebraska.
How that UNLV team did not make the Sweet 16 so talented still baffles me today. So what if we got scheduled vs Cal again.
