Interesting that its an NCAA rule but it only applies to the 65 P5 schools beginning next academic school year. Non-P5 schools can choose whether or not they want to adopt it.

Schools are required to give athletes one day off per week, as it stands today a travel day can count as that day, beginning next year a travel day does not count as a day off. The MWC is probably the NCAA conference affected the most by travel due to distance and location. For example if UNLV traveled today to Laramie on a commecial flight, play tomorrow night there is no way to leave on a commercial flight until Wednesday, so Thursday is the off day leaving only 1 day to prepare for a Sat game.

The MWC can continue with business as usual not being a P5 school but the thought is that its a disadvantage, my thought is not travelling charter is a disadvantage more so than the travel day being used as a day off.

With that said is UNLV now travelling charter using an Allegiant jet? Or has this not happened yet, or not happening?
