With the status of Decker still up in the air I actually came up with 4 scenarios/score lines.

1) Palandech starts plays entire game. Final score will look similar to UCLA 37-3.

2) Decker, Palandech both play either by design or injury 37-10.

3) Decker is healthy enough to go and not hampered by injury 31-17

4) Palandech so ineffective Sanchez yanks him at halftime trailing 21-0 and inserts Sneed. Sneed rallies the troops in Johnny Football fashion leading UNLV to an improbable comeback defeating Michigan 35-31. This will forever be referred to as 'The Immaculate Substitution'. Sneed never relinquishes the starting job and is the herald of the Golden Age of UNLV football.

(We all have dreams this is mine)

Plandech will start. Give Decker a week off. Michigan didn't look good against Utah but beat orgeon state. Let me predict a close one 24 - 20 michagan. The Michigan transfer quarterback threw a few picks. Defense will get a few more picks

Thanks for the chuckle. Great post although I think your a touchdown off in both directions first 3 scenarios.

I can't see the Rebels without Decker putting up thise points vs Michigan or many other teams.

I agree though, there are far more winnable games on the docket, get Decker completely healthy.

I can't see any scenarios where UNLV comes out of the Big House with a victory. I'm just hoping we can come out healthy and with no significant injuries. Save decker for the start of MWC play.

This game is so hard to predict because of the injury to Decker. The press conference yesterday made it seem like it is SIGNIFICANTLY less serious than most had anticipated. IMO, the decision will not be whether or not Decker is healthy enough to play, it will be whether or not the coaches want to risk another injury. In other words, if we were playing a more winnable game this week against a less physical opponent (almost any MW game) I think Decker would be out there.

With that said, even if we have to go with Palendech I don't think we get blown out. Our defense has been really solid all year. Consider:

Against NIU, we had to focus on defending the run and secondly worry about the pass as Hare was an average-at-best passer. We stopped the run pretty well but got gassed late. We looked more sound in containing the edge and filling gaps. We tackled pretty well. Unfortunately, Hare threw the ball pretty well and we didn't have an answer for the newcomer Golladay in the air. Still, it was a close game.

Against UCLA, we had to stop both run and pass, but many were most concerned that Rosen would eat up our secondary. Our pass defense was really good, and Rosen looked average. After holding UCLA to 10 offensive points in 1st half, I think D got gassed and discouraged by the pick-6 and by our offense's inability to move the ball and keep our D off the field, so UCLA put some points on the board 2nd half.

This week, it's all about stopping the run. While that is easier said than done, especially since we're facing a Harbaugh team, a BIG 10 team, and a physical running back (if you haven't watched him...he's GOOD), I think that Baer has showed an ability to create a gameplan to slow/stop what the opponent does best. If Michigan is forced to pass, Rudock has not looked good this year. I don't see Michigan scoring a ton of points.

My predictions:

If Palendech/Sneed play: 28 - 10 Michigan.
If Decker/Palendech play: 24 - 20 Michigan.

CTS plays it conservative: Decker doesn't see the field and no fake FGs are attempted. Rebels benefit from a big defensive/special teams play (and don't get screwed like vs UCLA) and get a TD. Tack on a couple of FGs, and you have a 34-13 win for the Indigo & Maize.

UCLA's desire for big plays downfield helped keep the score down on their end. Michigan looked like a much more physical team that will take what given. The defense was really strong as well.
The way UCLA's backs were powering through tackles, Michigan are much more brutal.
I see a 47-0 game in Ann Arbor but Idaho State isn't looking as tough this year. Keep the starters on defense healthy and the team can give us something to smile about next week.

5) Tony Sanchez hits Harbaugh and all of his assistants over the head with a steel chair when the officials aren't looking. Then before the officials realize what has happened UNLV has Michigan pinned for the 3 count.

The battle between hot headed fiery coaches, I see Sanchez winning in round 6 with a solid connecting haymaker.

For football, it depends on if the front d line can learn to stuff the run overnight. the D line got gassed because of a stronger, larger, more effective O line. If the offense can give them time to breath, I see our air game under Decker breathing life into the game. Healthy Decker, we lose 28-20. If Palandech can get the ground game going, we'll still lose 28-12.

Oregon State had some pretty bad special team errors that lead to some short fields for Michigan (snap over the punters head that was covered on the 5) but the Wolverines are a big physical bunch and pose a very big obstacle for our team.

Like last week I want to see this team compete and make some plays for 4 Quarters. I think the D will be able to force some stops early. I like that they are flying in on Thursday to acclimate a bit.

Right now weather report shows a high of 70 Degrees and 90% chance of rain early in the day.

Michigan-49
UNLV-10
It can be worse but Harbaugh will not run up the score.

I think Oregon St is better than we are and they lost 35-7 in Ann Arbor last weekend so I think we give up 45-50 points and maybe get 7 or 10.
the last 3 quarters Oregon state was out gained 372- 2

I think we can fall forward a couple of times and get more than two yards. Just gotta avoid the sacks... and not by throwing it into the arms of a waiting defender!

I really think UNLV is a lot better team than Oregon St. based on how UNLV played against NIU game. Oregon St. was leading Weber St. 13-7 going into the 4th quarter two later TD's gave them a 26-7 victory. Weber St. is a team that UNLV , post Hauck, should be able to beat by 40 or more points. UNLV played really close to UCLA until Decker went out of the game. UNLV was moving the ball with about 4 minutes left down 10-0 and should have come away from the half down either 10-3 or 10-7 against a team that is way better than Utah who beat Michigan. What I am saying is that UNLV should be competitive with Michigan if Decker is able to play and be effective. If he can't play, all bets are off. As for Michigan being an almost 40 point favorite over UNLV, it must be purely based on the second half of play verse UCLA. As well as the UNLV defense has played, I find it highly unlikely that Michigan will cover the line.

Our QB situation definitely throws a wrench into things. IMO, however, with a week to prepare, I believe that even if we have to go with Palendech/Sneed, our staff will have a gameplan that will allow us to move the ball better than we did vs. UCLA. Not sure if we'll be able to score much more, but at least move the ball and give defense better rest than they did last Saturday.

If Palandech plays the entire game or Decker is severly hampered by the injury there is a chance this could look like the UCLA game in terms of scoreboard. It won't be because of lack of effort or coaching. If the offense struggles to move the ball and we are going 3 and out over and over no amount of effort or scheming by coaches will matter. The defense has held up well for two games now in the first half. It's a lot to ask any defense much less one that lacks a lot of depth to log that many minutes.

If Decker is healthy and plays, I think UNLV keeps it respectable. If not it could prove to be a long day for the defense.
