obviously Jonah Antonio can shoot the ball. Nice stroke, nice release. Everyone jumped on that after the exhibition and the IPFW game. I wanted to see more, specifically, can he get himself open, can the team get him open, can he create his own shot, can he shoot with little space.
KSU is a good defensive basketball team but far from elite. They probably won’t even be an NCAA team this year. And it was easy to see that Jonah was a complete non-factor and it had nothing to do with cold shooting. He just didn’t get looks and became a net zero or less for UNLV.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just the way I look at things, but I’m still surprised how many fans are certain of a negative season/career or a positive season/career based upon such a tiny sample size and frequently against a sample size that includes games against free pass teams. And basing it on stats alone ... whether it be a HS kid or college kid.
Unless we see an entirely new offense, it’s going to be a real struggle having just one shooter (Jonah) and one scorer (Hardy). No, Hardy, Hamilton, Long aren’t shooters... they can hit the shot, but they aren’t shooters.
