Do you guys think Marv was a good hire now? Now that the team has won some games? I wonder how the recruiting class is shaping up for next year.

Can he recruit? Yes

Is he likeable and sincere? Yes, his media sessions are always insightful without being offensive to anyone for stupid questions.

Is he a good coach? Seems like it, the team has improved since the conference season started and looks as though they may peak at the right time. Last year's team showed some really good spark at times that I attributed to good coaching.

Will he win? Most likely. Wait until he has a good group of players that have played in the system for 2 or 3 years. Will probably be very tough teams to beat.

What's the next step? Winning the MWC tournament would be huge but moving forward, the Menzies needs to beat some high profile teams out of conference.

Overall I think he was a great hire. I hope he continues to coach the Rebels for a long time

Considering the options were him or Chris Bird, I'd say we made the right hire.

I Menzies as the hire. Had a ton of exposure to him at NMSU, but not as much prior, when he was an assistant. That's the big jump, and his run as a wildly successful head coach at NMSU made it seem like a good hire then. After he got to campus, between his affable nature and recruiting, liked the hire more. Now that we're seeing it appears he can coach, it's a home run. Especially at the rate we got him at.

Lets see a few more winning seasons and a post season berth before we start talking raises.

Considering the options were him or Chris Beard, I'd say we made the right hire.
Was I in favor of Menzies hiring? Absolutely not. Am I glad we wound up with Marv. Indubitably

We should be thanking our lucky stars that the sequence of events, which ultimately led the AD and Board of Regents, into making a brilliant choice, totally despite their complete ineptitude, has brought a great coach into the Rebel family.

I believe that, given the necessary resources, Coach Menzies has the best chance, in a long while, to return the Rebels to prominence on the NCAA landscape.
