Utah State wins title with coach paid way less than ours. Of all sports, coaching in fb matters the most. Really like the way Utah St spreads the field.

Not surprised they won. Surprised they were so dominant..

I get the gripe about salary, but Anderson is an experienced HC who left Arkansas State after his wife passed. Reports are he's a deeply religious guy and I'm not sure UNLV would have been a good fit..(I know there are religious people in Vegas as well).

Name me a successful, experienced G5 coach that would want to come here for less money than what Artoyo makes.

This program has been down so long we have to either get lucky or potentially over pay to get guys here.

It's that simple.

Only other route is to have another Robinson scenario, where we hire a guy with past success who's looking for one last rodeo.

If Arroyo flames out, maybe you go for a Gary Patterson?

We need Patterson or an equivalent former HC who has won in the recent past!

That's fine. I actually agree, but a number of things have to take place.

1. Guy has to fall on hard times or wear out his welcome somewhere else. (Like Patterson).

2) He has to actually want to come here.

3) If his services are wanted elsewhere we have to win a bidding war with another school.

It would be great to get a guy like Patterson but a lot has to fall into place for something like that to happen.

Another note on Anderson.

Anderson was coming off I believe a 4-8 season at Arkansas State. Had a good overall record. But recency bias is a thing, and I can only imagine these boards if Desiree had hired a guy that just went 4-8...
