Okay, play time is over. This was a positive end for the preseason. Come 2022, we compete against MWC teams. The immediate goal is to demonstrate competitiveness. That means 50/50 or better in conference games.
More important, for the long term, CKK needs to stabilize the roster — fewer transfers in or out. Chemistry grows out of consistency.

Also, we always expect such a perfect continuation of what they do as a HS SR or JC SOPH into D1.
Gilbert has been really good for us. But he’s a young player with some contributions now. Wink was great as a HS senior, very highly decorated, and as a freshman he played very well for us and showed promise. That was fully expected and he delivered; but he was a five star by most services. Not to get caught up in the stars hype. Sure, we can also cite McCaw … but for every McCaw you can name 50 Jahylons.

I hope Lindsay is a stud day one but it’s not likely, how many examples have we seen over the years here at UNLV? They come in with all the hype in the world then they crash back to earth and we end up saying give him a year or two. The disappointment even happens with most of our transfers too.
We will need 2 guys who can consistently score at all 3 levels.. 3pt line, mid-range and at the rim. If we have 2 guys who can consistently get their own shot at all 3 levels on the offensive end then I think we will be pleasantly surprised at the results next year.
We will need 2 Hamilton’s or 2 (more consistent) Donovan Williams types on the floor at the same time to have a chance at being an NCAA team.
What we need is Key Gilbert starting at the 1G and Don Will at the 3 and just roll with it.
Gilbert is a super athletic defender but he is nowhere near a starting point. His assists are good, but he has far too many turnovers ( based on 40 minutes he has @ twice as many as the next worst) and he doesn't shoot well ( he hesistates shooting the three and when he does he is at 28%). Admittedly, the entire team sucks from the three ( 246th nationally) but but we need to keep our best shooters on the floor if we can.
Disagree. Bring him off the bench. His energy on defense is contagious.
