As much as I am happy with the improvements that I have seen on and off the field with UNLV football, they have not yet had that statement game that says they are here to stay. In fact, the two loses to SJSU and FSU show that UNLV is really close to becoming one of the better teams in the MWC, they are just nood there yet. UNLV looked really good for 90% of the game against NIU and at this point we are finding out that NIU is at best a middle of the pack team. UNLV put on a decent show against both Michigan (proud of the fact that UNLV played Michigan closer than bywho and any other team that did not beat them), and stayed with UCLA for the entire first half until Decker came out of the game with an injury. The closes that UNLV has come to the statement game is when they beat unr which is a great win, but not a statement game.

BSU is the chance for UNLV to have that statement game that will show the fans, recruits, and the football world that UNLV is ready to join the big boys, and stop sitting in the kiddy section. If there ever was a game in which the stars have aligned, this is that game. BSU is not the team that they have been in the past with some easy victories over bad teams, as well as loses to mid level teams. They just squeezed by a 3-4 Washington team, they lost to the same byu team 35-24 that was shut out 31-0 by Michigan, they had a head scratcher 52-26 lose to Utah State, and they beat the bottom of the MWC Wyoming by 20

BSU is also coming into this game with numerous injuries and the possibility that both offensive tackles will be replaced by second stringers for the game. BSU has a freshmen QB who has thrown a bunch of interceptions (I know UNLV has a bad history verse freshmen QB's). UNLV has Decker back after to heartwrenching loses. The team is hungry for a win under Decker after the last two games. UNLV is coming off the game of a bye week. UNLV is playing at home. This is the homecoming game for UNLV. It is time to have that upset win that shows UNLV football has arrived.

Hauck had a bad history at UNLV versus freshman, 3rd-string, and DII QB's. Also, against Sophomore, Junior, and Senior QB's. I don't remember his record versus 2nd-stringers.
