NCAA basketball betting: Conference tournament odds released

Championship week in college basketball is fast approaching, and BetMGM has released odds for many of the top conference tournaments.
Some low-major conference tournaments have already begun, but the marquee leagues — the ones that produce multiple NCAA tournament bids — have their tournaments on tap for next week. Conference tournaments are crucial for teams on the bubble scratching and clawing to move on to March Madness, and for those whose only hope at playing in the tournament is an automatic berth from winning a conference tournament title.
As of Tuesday morning, BetMGM has odds for nine of the conference tournaments. And with the calendar now turned to March, the sportsbook said it is seeing “increased betting action" on college basketball. That will only increase as the month progresses.

I think I just may bet the Rebels at +2500...

holy sh*t, we’ve been a bad tourney team since the last time we won the whole thing. Wasn’t it the Dickel led Rebels of 1997?

When they lose to Wyoming their odds may go to + 5000. Might be worth $100 flyer.

I don’t know, 25/1 doesn’t seem big enough for me to bite. At this point I just hope we’re on the opposite side of the bracket from SDSU. Boise/CSU/USU are all bubble teams. I don’t expect the Rebels to win the tournament but I’d get some enjoyment ruining someone else’s shot at the NCAA’s because a loss to UNLV would look terrible to the committee.

I was just looking at the MWC standings and with the games left UNLV can finish as high as 6th in the MWC and as low as 8th. Give me a $1,000,000,000 to 1 odds and I still wouldnt waiste that dollar on UNLV this year.

If we have a 70% chance to win the 1st round and 20% chance to win each of the next three rounds that gives us a .0056 chance to win the tourney. Not lottery odds but way out there.

The MWC tournament is set. It’s a damn shame the Rebels are so terrible. Our side of the bracket looks pretty weak. A half decent team would have a shot to make the championship game.

Other than opening vs UNM, this is about as good as UNLV could have hoped for. I do think UNM is the worst, AFA a bit better because even though they aren’t good, they have a roster, sets and scheme and discipline.

UNLV is up 60/1 now at William Hill after the Wyoming debacle. I put $20 on it. I know it’s a waste of money but maybe we get lucky win a few games and then I can put $1,000 on SDSU money line in the Championship game to hedge the bet.
