Reading the account of the scrimmage doesn’t make me feel any too good. Sounds like we are getting the same old Armani this year. Interceptions, balls thrown in the dirt, his leg getting locked and an occasional long run wont get it done. If he is one dimensional again this year we will not be successful. The competition is a little stiffer this year and we wont be bowling with a 44.4% completion percentage.

No doubt in my mind that the defense will be improved over last year but I don’t see us winning any defensive struggles yet so what is our best QB option should Armani continue to struggle passing the ball this year? We obviously have some decent receivers on the team and we need to get the ball into their hands to take the pressure off of the run game. Collins was one of our most explosive players last year but only when Gilliam was in the game at QB. I don’t think he had one reception all year from Armani.

Do we go with the Pocket passer (Oblad) or Dual threat (Grayson) if Gilliam is not ready to go early in the season and Armani struggles? Nobody has seen any practices this fall so we don’t even know if those 2 look any better than Gilliam did last year.

Hopefully CTS pulls all the right strings to get the ship righted and Armani on track!

I saw these quotes on the offense as well. Hopefully this is more of a "this is how we performed last year and that's not good enough anymore" quote rather than a "this is worse than last year" situation.

Offense was not particularly sharp.

Had a few 'splash' plays but struggled a bit to maintain drives.

On the flip side.

The defense was very opportunistic. Forced a couple turnovers, but gave up a few big plays.

I wouldn't read to much either way.

Living up here in Broncoland, I was pretty amazed (not really) with how similar Sanchez's and Harsin's first fall scrimmage evaluations were. To hear Harsin tell it, his guys struggled to simply get the ball cleanly from the center to the QB. I think this is fairly typical of coaches early in fall camps - be nitpicky and make the guys think they'd struggle against a middle school. It's all meant to get them to pay closer attention to detail, go hard all the time, and focus 100% of the time. If the tone isn't different in two weeks then it's cause for concern. Not so much right now.
