we don't have right now that we need or we're in trouble.
1. A quality point. I can't think of very many top tier basketball teams, at this level, that don't have at least a "very good" point guard. We don't need an All American, but we need someone with vision, speed, ball-handling skills, excellent decision making, leadership and determination. I'm not seeing this in Seagears. Especially the last three. (BTW - This is my only beef with CDR. He just can't identify a true floor general. With a quality point we'd be 10-1 and we'd think CDR was a genius. People would be calling for a run for Governor.)
2. A player who can get a clutch bucket. The team goes into funks and can't get a point. I remember back in the glory days. When things slowed down if we could get the ball to Larry Johnson or, before him, Reggie Theus we could count on a score. This year, I thought Pat was the player who would get the pressure basket - but now I'm not so sure. And if it isn't pat - who? Ike? Maybe every third game - but not consistently. Zim? - if he gets the ball in position ( see point # 1) he can get it to the rim - but it isn't going in the hole. Anyone else?
There are other things. ( Did Riverside really out-rebound this team? - by 15 boards? Really? )
Is a Zone defense Kryptonite? - even when your 5* center is in foul trouble?
But if we don't fix the top two - we'll lose enough games to make us irrelevant in March.
