Tracking 2016 Recruits

What type of qb is he?
Listed as a drop back passer, but he can move a little bit as well. Put up big numbers his sophomore year playing varsity in Indiana I think. Dad is a coach with ASU baseball so he moved. Numbers last year were not as impressive but from all accounts it had to do with a change in offenses and just familiarity with the players around him and new surrounding. Article about a camp he attended spoke very highly of him saying UNLV got a good one. His numbers may be muted this year as the school he is at had one of the top RBs in the state transfer there.

It would be nice to try and keep up with all of the recruits that are already verbals' for 2016 and see how they are doing.

Donovan is mostly an offensive lineman but will see time at D end thus season as well.

Offensive linemen will be hard to track since pancake blocks arent tracked. We could list sacks against and rushing yards for their teams to at least get some perspective.

Jack Smith Week 2 Line - 18/26 - 284yds 3 TD ,in a 43-40 win over Bakersfield High School. Stats are unofficial. Could not find any rushing stats.

WR- CJ Harris (East Valley High) and WR Marquis Wimberly (Chaffey CC) dont start their seasons until next weekend.

Rodney Jones DE (Lincoln) won 29-0 but I could not track down any individual stats for him on defense.

Nice stat line for Jack Smith. Week one his team leaned heavily on the running game and he finished with only 100 yards passing.. This week they got involved in a shootout and had to chuck the ball around more. Nice to see he was up for the challenge.

I thought Keys looked solid for the most part. On a few occassions he and Decker were not on the same page but that kid is physical and will have some big games this year.

Boyd, Keys, Wimberley, Presley, Woods, CJ Harris (Whose team won in a shootout but I couldnt find a box score) looks like a solid group to work with next year. I am sure we will see a few more names added to the WR position in this class as well.

Donovan Outlaw coronado team beat legacy 24-15. Coronado rushed for 371 yards and the defense game up 100 yards rushing to legacy
Thanks for that update. It really is hard to gage offensive linemen since they dont have counting or individual stats. Giving team rushing stats at least gives some perspective.

We'll need Smith
From what I have gathered on him he had a really solid sophomore year. He moved out of state to Arizona. His numbers dipped considerably but there could be all kinds of reasons for that. New offense, teammates not to mention simply moving to a new school. He has shown well at camps according to reports. Listed as a 3* with 2 publications and a 2* in another. He looks to have a really strong arm, but does struggle with accuracy a bit based on completion%. Again hard to read much into that not knowing the quality of receivers he is throwing at. To be perfectly honest I wasnt blown away by his tape, but there were some things to like. Based solely on the tape I've seen on he and Sneed, Sneed seems the slighty better prospect. But that is just my first impression.

Qb Jack Smith went 10-17 for 130 yards 0Td 0Int.

Smith's numbers are pretty underwhelming this year but a lot of that has to do with the offense his school runs. They rely very heavily on the run game. The one game he was asked to throw a lot he performed well. Team os undefeated on the year.

I think in the next recruiting class we will see JUCO addtions at D End and Safety where we lose/need the most help heading into next year. Lots of young bodies at both spots but we need some immediate impact guys moving into next fall at both those spots.

I also suspect we will see at least one JUCO O lineman as well to up the competition for spots on the interior next season.

Even with Singer coming in next year?
