UNLV is a big time program we don’t put up with losing. Tony was given a year too much. Winning is in our tradition.

If he had recruited or developed a better QB and wasn't so hard headed about playing Armani Rogers, he might still be at UNLV!

I went to every practice. I honestly can't tell you how Armani beat out Stanton for the job. Stanton was the better QB all of Spring.

Fall camp was closed, so maybe Armani was better then. But throughout Spring? Nope.

Totally agree about QB development...Nobody got better...Armani was the same guy year 3 as year 1.

Armani had a ceiling as a quarterback and remained the same quarterback with the same numbers at Ohio.

Yep.

He never got better in the passing game.

The thing is, he didn't have to become a great or even a good passer. Just adequate would have been enough.

His ability with his legs, the threat he posed in read option plays opened up bigger runs for running backs. That alone would have helped make up the difference for his shortcomings in the passing if he was even avg..

I know a lot of people weren't crazy about Barney Cotton's play calling. I thought he was actually solid. Problem was his Qb (Armani) couldn't make the simplest of passes to keep defenses honest.

Swing pass to a running back....Bounced at his feet.

Little TE curl route wide open...Three feet over his head.

Play action, wide open receiver, missed.

Thing is, the Rebels ran the ball well enough he was facing favorable coverages..

Just make the easy throws...Nobody was asking him to drop back 25-30 times a game.

He was a perfect example of poor execution vs playcalling.

Good play called. Receiver open. He misses. 2nd and 10...Should have been 1st and 10 or 2nd and 2 with the entire playbook open..

I pointed out many times how Armani’s aim and throwing wasn’t going to improve but people on here kept telling me that there was a chance.

Someone in the NFL needs to hire me to be a QB coach. Let’s start the bidding at $20M/year x’s 5 years.. guaranteed money, of course.
