Even crappy college teams and there is a TON of them sneak their way into a bowl game from time to time. There is no excuse why almost all of CFB can do it. Not that making the Cornnuts or Swanson Tv dinner Bowls is that big of a accomplishment, but its something. Almost every team in the MWC has been in the TOP 50 ish at 1 point in the last 10 years ! .

BTW that Uconn coach seams to be doing pretty good for what he has to work with.

I'd rather be one win away from a bowl game at this point, but (barring significant injury) I still feel pretty good we'll finish bowl eligible.

I don’t know all of the Bowl tie ins but there are 6 Bowl Eligible MWC teams with USU a win away from being 7. The PAC has 7 Bowl Eligible teams that fill a lot of west coast bowl games, I have my doubts that a 6-6 UNLV would get selected.

I believe all bowl eligible teams go to a bowl now. I believe there are even bowls that are only played depending on the number of eligible teams. I read a couple of weeks ago that at least one of them wasn’t expected to be played because of this. My understanding could be wrong, by I am highly confident that if UNLV wins their last 2 games they will go to a bowl.

This is not accurate. Some years there are more eligible teams than bowls and others they have not had enough eligible teams in that case teams with losing records have been selected.

Cities plan all year for their bowl game so they don’t just cancel the game. Covid cancelled some bowl games.

This is what I was referring to. Happened last year to accommodate every eligible team. Sounds like it was just last year so I may have misremembered, though i read several weeks ago that it was “not expected“ to happen this year. Not sure where it will go from here. Obviously if they’re talking about multiple 5-7 teams going this year it is a moot point.

Extra bowl last year
