Thad Matta to Butler!

I think he wasn’t well enough. I know we (not UNLV, but boosters, tried … ) and I don’t think he was up to par physically. If he were, think of how many jobs have opened the past three years, you didn’t hear much. He was going to get a job as soon as he was healthy and willing.
Hmmmm I remember this now and his health was a healthy debate back then too. I’m tired of being in this position as UNLV, on the brink in a bad way. Now KK has to get a good hire in the 2nd chair, someone who can recruit and has a presence with players in games and on the bench. I liked the mini late season run in the MWC we had, beating a good CSU team, sweeping UNR and beating Wyo but two of the guys responsible are now gone and what’s left is a huge question mark. Throw in Hartman leaving and you have to wonder will UNLV ever be able to maintain momentum and turn the corner as a Hoops program. We always seem to be in ashes having to start over from the ground up. I had the highest hopes for KK but now is when we will find out if this is right or does UNLVhave to start over with someone else?
Interested if the millions he was getting for not coaching from his buyout recently ended?
I wish we got him a few years ago. Butler is going to be in really good hands. The Sean Miller vs Matta battles in the Big East will be must-see TV.
Honestly, UNLV is a UTEP-type program now. Or maybe something like St. John's. Just be thankful we haven't sunk to SJSU or USF levels yet.
We ARE at that level, people just don’t know it or care anymore.
No offense SCRUB ,but when you make this much sense it might just be time to walk away!!
I hear you but I don’t accept that we have to be! And no matter how much you say it, I won‘t agree. UNLV had been mismanaged into this position!
I’ll watch my Rebels to the bitter end. Believe me, I’ve wanted to just bail on our school at times.
It like waiting for a bad show to get better. They might tease u once in a while with a good episodes ,but overall not good! Like Walking Dead. Very good in the beginning now u keep on watching waiting for it to end! You are just so much vested u dont want to give up.
His kids went there, his daughter just graduated not too long ago. He's got deep ties to Indianapolis and Butler. He's also a midwest guy through and through. He was never coming to UNLV for what we can afford, regardless of his medical conditions. Just my two cents as I live in Indy.
Yea i talked to a customer of mine that had a Ohio St (alum) shirt about him possibly coming here!! He said no chance. Described the exact reasons stated above!! Turned down UCLA also i believe!! THAD MATTA!
