Standing Ovation

I like so many others wanted so badly to see Rice succeed. He's a good person who would've moved mountains if it meant returning the Rebel basketball program back to glory. I know he'll land a great job somewhere. I wish him and his family the best.

I put my support behind Dave Rice, because his story was absolutely perfect for UNLV. A grad and player from the NC team comes back to lead us back to the "glory days".

Had he succeeded we could have seen another 20-year coach (like Tark's 19 yrs, shoulda' been 30).

Sadly this Hollywood script didn't have the appropriate end. As hard as he tried, and he did try, he simply couldn't squeeze results from his players. It was time to try someone else.

Good luck to you, Dave. You'll always be a Rebel...

Well said.

Seriously? I think possibly the main reason for Rice's coaching failure was his people skills... awkward and utterly lacking the ability to lead or motivate. Probably the top thing an AD needs is great people skills. HOW in the world would Rice make a "great AD"??!

You have no idea what I takes to be an AD. I know a couple and it involves politics. Rice has intelligence and he actually would be a great fundraiser. He will end up coaching in some form or fashion but I won't be surprised if he ends up within a admin job at some point leading to an AD position.

I'll take your word for it, i'm sure you know a lot more what it takes to be an AD than I do. I'll believe it when I see it, a ton of so-called experts on here were also adamant, had no doubt, that he'd become a phenomenal coach.
