So, who coaches our bowl?

He was but Barry left to coach the D in Barry's absence. Knowing that he was coming here too.

He will be here for the bowl game as DC unless Harper announces a hire from outside. Scherer will hang on for the bowl if there is an opportunity to become HC. Or, Harper drops a bag on him to stay for the bowl game.

Brennan Marion probably coaches the team. I don’t think he will follow Odom to Purdue. He will coach this rebels program. It’s been clear to me that is the plan.

I’d be shocked if this wasn’t announced immediately after Odom officially departs.

Typically they schools don’t go with an OC or DC because it allows them to focus on their prior responsibilities and things run as close to “business as usual” as possible. That of course changes if they tab Marion or Scherer to be the head guy though.

I’m not sure Marion is HC material from what I have seen but it does help keep recruits. I am also not sure what the other options are. I would certainly take him over Mora or Rich Rod and similar options.

I agree with you. I believe what you said to be true.

My gut tells me it’s Marion as well, although his last tweet seemed like an implicit goodbye. I don’t trust Marion as a head coach, feel he needs more seasoning. That said, he would likely retain most of the offensive recruits and have a better shot of bringing in a decent QB. If he could make a solid DC hire (or somehow keep Sherer, unlikely) then it could work, at least for a year or two before he bolts or it comes apart at the seems.
