Nice story. When I lived in Hawaii (25 years ago... damn!) Kahuku was known for putting together some of the toughest teams on the islands. Their families were usually of limited means and they all had to make the most of limited resources. Close-knit, junkyard dog types. I love seeing kids who went there because I know they'll work hard and have good attitudes.
