Bad offense for most of the game. This team should never, ever shoot 40 three pointers. That’s what UNR wanted us to do. And with that, we gave a lowly team their second road win. Smdh.
Or, if we don’t like actual honesty, we can soften the blow of UNR’s quality saying that they are a program coming off 4 straight NCAA tournament bids, the last two included advancing. You know, the team we played last night was really good, and that’s why we lost, because UNR is just really good.
At Wyoming was awful. Really awful. We won but it was a grotesque look on the floor.
The second part? Abso-fricking-lutely. A defeatist attitude, a spin doctor, a used car salesman way of life. Some of our fans took the BS hook, line, and sinker. I’d have to question my own sanity and or intelligence if I took it so easily.
If coach otz is such an offensive guy, why can't he at least coach guys to square up at hoop. So many shots with bodies going sideways. And Antonio barely misses most of time, if he had some more arc on those shots he would be deadly.
Cannot believe with year mostly gone that these corrections have not been made. What are coaches taking their time in practice doing? Make sure they pass the ball 3 times around arc never looking inside and then having guy go 1 on 5? No wonder they go on long offensive periods on not scoring.

To some extent, that could be players relying on bad habits. I know that ultimately reflects the coach and his coaching. No denial.
That said, have you seen some of the ways he's drawn up schemes to break up zones? It's so refreshing to see a team know what needs to be done to break 1-3-1 especially. I hate dogging on CDR (don't hate doing so for Menzies) but the last two staffs have not been good at scheming up ball movement and spacing appropriate to break a zone. Otz has done it several times even with this poor shooting squad (although not every time).
And the MWC is worse, and we are still bad, but that’s ok, because we don’t recruit as well, which shows heavily during OOC and the Rebels are complete flops OOC, but it didn’t hurt Rice because he could compete nationally with 4 and 5 stars, but he should have done well nationally since he had the 4 and 5 stars.
Menzies was better. We are far better off today than we were ... we have more relevance, more fans, more interest, more upside, more hope, more camaraderie.
And the reason we know this to be fact is because you use exclamation points to prove it. When an exclamation point is used, it means straight, hard facts.
You can twist this around as much as you want to but the fact is Rice was not a good coach with better players against lesser talent! Who cares who he recruited here, he didn't do anything with them?
Rice came into UNLV with a much better situation and got worse and worse against nobody teams for 5 years in a row. He won in the OOC part of the season but failed time and time again in the regular season and the MWC post season.
To me that says he sucked ass coaching against teams that we should have beat by 20 and his so-called recruited talent followed suit into the dumpster by season's end, every season he was here! I can still see Dave clapping on the sidelines as his teams get boat raced by the likes of AFA, CSU, Fesno and Wyoming!

lucky there are no CSU fans, I can imagine how much razzing you’d be taking from your CSU coworkers, you’d hate Otz and Munchies for losing every game against them, but you get no flak from that, so free pass. I’ll add exclamation points to make it true next time.

Here’s a tidbit, who didn’t lose at least 7 home games every season? Here’s a tidbit, who wasn’t routinely sandblasted by 20 and 30 and even 40 plus? Here’s a tidbit, guess who gave us under 500? Here’s a tidbit, guess who plays in front of 2-4K home fans? Here’s a tidbit, who has been completely owned by UNR?

Joe, if you can keep bringing up Menzies name here for incompetence, I can do the same in regards to Rice and there is plenty to go around about your boy! It's funny how staff and moderators try to influence the narrative of what we should post and think here? This board is a microcosm of society but like society you have some that don't follow the sheep with their thoughts and opinions and you know what you will get from me on the subject of Rice here going forward. You bring up Drais and all the other dumb ass backhanded comments about Menzies and I can bring up clapping on the sidelines like a deer in headlights about Rice when he was getting out coached by guys at CSU, Wyoming, AFA and Fresno and many others in the MWC. If you cannot admit that getting out-coached by lesser coaches in the MWC negated his big OOC wins then you aren't being objective regarding the subject of why UNLV is where it is perception wise in Hoops due to its past coaches.
