I'll ban the first person that says they score more points. I'm looking at you @reagan21 .

Let's hear your reasons why or how the Rebs win on Friday.
I think UNLV has played better down the stretch than Boise State has vs similiar opposition.

UNLV wins if..

They do a better job protecting Hajj this game than last. Cannot give up more than 2-3 sacks.

Have got to hit 2 if not 3 chunk plays in the passing game. (25+ yards)

Force Madsen into 1 or more turnovers. If he plays a clean game I'm not sure Rebs can win.

Repeat performance or better vs Jeanty should be enough.

Get stops on 3rd down. If Rebs can keep the defense off the field for 6+ minute drives, and big plays, the game will be just fine.

Thinking specifically of that game-ending drive Boise had where they killed 8 and a half minutes to end the game

Our TE gets 2 TD's. RW gets one TD.
We cause a blocked punt, or at least 2 punts that are shanks.
We get 4 sacks, one of which causes a fumble/TO.
We don't turn the ball over.

I do think that Boise gets about 4-5 sacks but we make up for it by causing sacks of our own and some runs for losses by their RB.

UNLV wins if...

We play aggressive defense by disrupting their QB
Our Special Teams block a couple of punts
Our offensive line limits QB sacks
We play our best game for four quarters

This. Just need to protect the ball and cause Madsen into another turnover.

They had a good game plan in October, 2 mistakes (and a bogus blind side block call) erased and we walk away with the W.

1- protect Hajj
2- Get to Madsen and stop his running ability
3- get off field on 3rd downs, no dumb penalties, no QB scrambles for 15, no easy dump offs
4- Tds vs FGs- beat Boise in this department
5- Let Jeanty feel it every time he touches ball

Pretty much sums it up.

So I’m gonna go with score more points.

Give every player contact lenses that change the color blue to green. It'll look like a real field and they'll think they're playing against NDSU and walk right over them. Add pocket warmers to their jocks for little extra oomf.

BSU scores less points?

Jeanty trips on his way out of the tunnel and sprains his ankle.

I've looked and can't lay my hands on the old, old quote (40's or 50's) attributed to an NFL coach about how they would stop the opponent's running back. "With a shotgun as he comes out of the dressing room". Or something like that.

Edit - found it. Bronko Nagurski: "In the pros, Steve Owen, whose New York Giants were often wrecked by Nagurski’s charges, suggested his formula for dealing with the Bronk. “The only way to stop Nagurski is shoot him before he leaves the dressing room.”"

Contain Jeanty. Better than the last game. Keep under 100 yards for the game.
Hurry Madsen to throw before he is ready
Protect Hajj by a mile. 6 sacks for BSU last time? Reduce it drastically
Get RWIII involves early
Get Balungay more touches
Just speed up the game....

Jeanty is gonna get his yards.

But he needs to earn them.

Be really hard to hold him under 100.

Just have to limit the number of 10+ yards runs.

100% get Ricky involved early or big chunk pass play to loosen their defense. Cannot let them play 8 in the box.

They did a good job of keeping him under 4 yards per carry. UNLV needs to do a better job protecting the QB, no major mistakes, UNLV must win the takeaway game, and limit the ref penalties!

Especially when they give him 35+ carries each game.
Ain’t holding him under 100 yards unless he gets injured before half. That’s just not reasonable.

I agree, he needs to earn his yards, bang him, make them tough, try your best to wear him down (though he usually wears you down).

I’m thinking he gets more yards this time. Partly because we did a good job, he might try to get us back. But partly because I don’t think we will focus quite as heavily on him. Madsen beat us last time. He can’t do it again. You have to jar him a few times. Need to get up on the receivers more often.

It’ll be won and lost at the lines and Boise has that advantage going on. That doesn’t mean we cannot beat them. I think Boise is a bit better than we are, but again, that doesn’t mean we cannot beat them.

Some aren’t seeing what I’m seeing … maybe I’m wrong. But I’m seeing a quarterback who is a little bit gunshy with his arm (not his legs). For a few games. And who is to say that critical before half INT vs BSU isn’t going to be in his head.

Boise plays pretty mistake free. UNLV made some untimely mistakes last game and BSU made the Rebels pay. The Rebels need to be clean and at the very least NOT LOSE the turnover battle.

If Ricky has one more block in his season, I hope it comes tomorrow. Things like that can be the difference.

It’s going to be a great battle.

Way to go, Mia. Make sure you bring enough for the Rebels 2nd half too. We don't want our guys cajones matching the field.

3rd down on both sides will decide this game. Also want to see Marion not go to the gimmicky bullshit in critical situations. His play calling in big situations has been atrocious for two years. In 3rd and long I’d like to see us heat up the QB. He seemed to have all day against us the first time.

If we have MWC refs it is 50/50. If the NCAA sends in other refs UNLV definitely wins so a MWC team doesn't get a bye. Lol

For us to Win:

* Get out to a lead early and make Boise throw.
* Contain rushing attack--both Jeanty and Madsen.
* More touches to the RBs, especially RPO and screen game against the blitz
* Fewer high risk splash play attempts--25 degrees isn't vertical passing weather. The pigskin is hard and slippery and fingers and hands are numb and less flexible.
* Play disciplined and have fewer penalties
