Rebels vs Life Pacific

Not too much excitement about beating this life insurance company team now on to Mutual of Omaha.

I suppose it could be worse I saw some D1 team play a school called Lady of the Lake. Sounds like something straight out of the Hobbit or Excalibur.

Games like this should be played on Nov 2, if at all, as an exhibition. I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to play a bunch of blind semi athletes.

You could be Louisville, I forget the div 111 team beat them in exhibition.
Great thing is everyone got to play and get some run.
Jones 20 and 12 in 18 minutes, who knows if someone up front gets injured, he's big body.
Hall 4 for 11 and 7 boards in 21 minutes
Nowell 7 Rebounds and 6 Assists in 21 minutes

McCabe and Webster went 7 for 9 from 3

As long as no one got injured, this game you have fun, and you never know if your going to need one of the back ups.

7-0 and 1st true road game at San Diego who lost back to back games in Vegas over the weekend to NMST and Nicholls State, they give up a lot of points, should be game the defense locks in and wins by 10 or more.

Looking at up-coming schedule, I know USF and Southern Miss are both unbeaten.

I agree though I might be more sympathetic to this crap if they played a real schedule the rest of the way vs what we have here.

I know its a really crappy team but I remember years where we would let crappy teams stick around the whole game before winning. Really digging Kevin Kruger as the coach.
You mean just like they did two weeks ago when they almost lost to high point? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves quite yet. The schedule is weak and these boards have already gone the route of 4-1 Arroyo being the savior which he’s clearly never going to be. I hope recruiting picks up next year and they figure out some better NIL incentives for basketball.

While this opponent would lose to the top high school teams in the nation (and probably NV), the timeline for this weak opponent is understandable. It’s right after Thanksgiving. These games, for his dad, were usually when the head scratching losses occurred, so why not schedule easier for this weekend?

My issue … let’s say UNLV ends up at the tail end of an at large bid, and they miss it … a loss vs Arizona would benefit metrics more than a win against Time Life Insurance.

Not saying you don’t have weaklings on the schedule, you need some, not as many as we have, and not at this level of low. This is a very bad NAIA team, not even a good one. It doesn’t help you.

And I’ll agree there is a ton of nuance in putting a schedule together. But I’d err more towards appropriate schedule given where we are expected to but but a little tougher … than weaker than is appropriate for where we should be … because I feel like you need to challenge kids and give them the best opportunity for an at large. Nobody gives a shit about the NIT or alphabet soup tournaments except the wishy washy, tender soft, lalaland fans.

I completely agree about the weakness of the OOC schedule. It’s embarrassingly weak and doesn’t properly prepare us for anything.

I was thinking about just this one game. If it’s replaced by an Incarnate Wood, it’s just as winnable and means that we stepped up the schedule elsewhere.

Dude they were 7-1.

Are you being remotely serious? You’re drawing validity from a record vs nobodies?

You want Arroyo fired when he did well against nobodies ….

Just looking at records, lol. Marv won 20 in year 2 with an OOC of 300+. That’s why nobody noticed the Rebels.

Just saying they do not appear to be a "Very" bad NAII team. Cream puff yes...

Of all the OCC games this one seems to be the worst one thus far...we shouldn't count this one.
It doesn’t count, for all intents and purposes. It gets tossed out during at large consideration talks.

The “win” gets added by local papers, it doesn’t get added with those nitty gritty type sites that tell you where you are on the bubble.

Where it does count is the stats. So now Karl Jones is one of the best bigs in the nation, statistically. A force to be reckoned with. It’ll also lift our team scoring average, help our team defense, etc.

I don’t care about that. I see it as an opportunity lost to build a resume. The kids didn’t want to play this game unless kids have changed a lot. They want crowds, name teams, etc … of course you can’t do that with all games … and you’ll have a couple stinkers in the schedule. But this is one of those that should have never been considered at all. Play a mid level team, an expected 100-150 as your second group of weak teams, with a couple of low D1’s being the weakest. I doubt it will and hopefully it doesn’t come down to it, but if UNLV finds them on the wrong side of a bubble, they can circle this game as one of the “oh, shit, shouldn’t have done that” … and that’s with a 75 point win.

Way...early. But Lunardi has only one MWC team in the dance. SDSU with a 10 seed.

Actually Joe. I could be wrong but I think they are a good NAIA team. 6-0. But point well taken .
