Guys,

Been a subscriber since day one. I'm a proud Rebs fan, but am disappointed in your commitment to produce episodes in the timeframe that you say you will during the past few seasons (especially this season). At this point, there are other Rebs podcasts to hold me over, but I like you guys the most. I understand it is the holiday season, and you two may be busy, but I don't care about your schedules because I want my episodes and I want them now. Get to work! :)

Are there other podcasts? Last time I looked for others - probably a year or two ago - there weren't really any options.

(That are available on Stitcher?)

We were going to get one in before the holiday.

Joe- November 22 isn't last week. On that episode, you said you would do another one after the Arizona game.

Guys, check out Towel Boys (also available on iTunes) and Runnin Ramble. Also, MW Connection does some UNLV stuff.

Joe, what's the status on the podcast? Would love to hear your thoughts on the football season, Rebels in Ruins (including all subsequent talks), Menzies and this year's squadron, etc.

Yea I can’t find a single podcast now covering unlv basketball. Even the towelboys haven’t done anything for this season

The only podcast I have been able to find is the Las Vegas Sun's Rebel Room

Its no use. I already ranted about Joe and TE's lack of motivation about the podcast. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Guys, check out Technically Correct with Tyler Bischoff- they cover UNLV Athletics often.
Regularly, actually. Part of my work-listening ritual. Bischoff is ultra-negative especially on UNLV stuff (rightfully so in many cases?), but still a fun listen and generally willing to eat crow when he's wrong. The Las Vegas Sports Network site has a podcast page and usually it's available for download not long after the show ends (10-11am run time).

Pitino had a great call-in on the radio. Talked about Menzies, how to run UNLV, and his two favorite coaches (Wright, Bennett). Also cleared up the famous airport bungle.

Joe, curious to hear your thoughts on the call-in. Pitino's great words about Menzies were nice, but he also said that a MUST for UNLV was OOC scheduling (DUH!). Why are we (as you so eloquently put it in your podcast) throwing in the towel with mediocre OOC scheduling? What is Menzies thought process with his scheduling, and how do you think his time here ends? He's a nice and boring guy, and I think we all know he's not the long-term play here.

Lastly, in your opinion, who is the right hire for UNLV? T.E. sounded drunk the whole podcast, so I'm going to cut him some slack with his suggestions. I think Pitino could have been perfect for us the first go-around had it worked out. I know it's a premature conversation, but the way the season is going- it's just more exciting.

Is Theus available? Couldn't get it done at pathetic CSUN, but if I remember correctly; Tark wanted him as a successor eventually.

I didn’t hear it, but if you look at MM’s OOC scheduling at NMSU, it was weak. And when they did play somebody mediocre, they were spanked (look at his record bs T25 and even vs the MWC). I suspect he’s gun shy and it’s become a scheduling philosophy. Dave Bliss was famous for this at UNM. Gaudy records playing nobodies, even was able to grab weeks of weeks of rankings because the record (number wise) was impressive. He rode that wave, keeps ignorant fans jumping like crazy, but then it’s revealed as fraudulent in the post season.

I can’t say how his time here ends, but I suspect it’s more likely to be with a dismissal rather than him leaving for bigger offers. Scheduling nobodies and beating (and losing) to nobodies is a formula for failure. Not challenging the team and not entertaining fans will make it short term. Something needs to change drastically.

But if UNLV can’t find much more cash, it’ll continue with whoever else they bring in, IMO, unless they fluke into it.

Theus would take this job for a dollar a month. But he was awful at CCSN. Former Rebels, of course, but this job takes a ton of attention to detail and some savvy maneuvering, a ton of time required. I don’t think that’s his strong suit at all. He’s more of a roll it out and play type of guy. And before people say “well it can’t be worse”, that was said a few years ago and we plummeted off the face of the earth.

Pitino is the perfect type for here, always has been. Plenty of coaches could get it done here but it’s probably gonna run you 2.5M per to have a solid shot, and that’s 3x more than currently.

Not having to assume the risk as a fan, but for me, I’d make a play for RP if the time comes. Could get him way under market value, wouldn’t be a long timer due to his age, and he’d immediately energize the community, put butts in seats, would compete, would play real teams and would trigger people like Hiker and other basketball haters.

My problem with Pitino is that he has several moral issues he hasn't adressed, and is linked to an ongoing FBI investigation...possibly being investigated himself. We don't know.

Thank you for the podcast! I am midway through the latest and its a great listen. Keep 'em coming! All 6 of us Rebel fans love it!

Is that a NEW podcast of Rebel-Net radio I see?! Awesome. Just downloaded and will listen to it ASAP! Keep 'em coming guys!

Did @T.E. Parker not push it across the front page again? I’m telling you, give him one job... watering plants or clicking a button... it’s too much.

This was a few days before the SJSU game. Had we recorded after that game, it would have been a completely different tone because we beat SJSU in dominant fashion, look like a T25 program now.

Being facetious in case it’s lost on ya.

Speaking of the Front page why is that CDR story still there from almost 3 years ago? I know once a Rebel always a Rebel but, we have to move on and do better than the CDR era.

I digress here is the Link to the Rebel-Net Radio. Enjoy and Thank you for keeping us Rebels fans who are still on the Rebel-Net somewhat up date with the happenings.

I listened to about 20 minutes so far (its Monday evening) and interestingly there was a crazy player comparison I made to RebelLuv during Saturday's game: I called Joel NTambwe a "Poor Man's Shawn Marion." Of course we had a laugh because Marion of course was clearly a NBA-level stud, but the general idea is the same: Ntambwe has a knack for making something out of nothing and is the best "trash man" we've had since Marion IMO. When I say trash man, I am talking about the ability to clean up a broken play.

So I was surprised to see I wasn't alone in that observation!
