The fact Armani hasn't transferred is very telling. Most QBs in his position (no pun intended) would have been looking the second the season was over.
Armani is not our guy for QB. He panics under pressure in the pocket. Big difference to me is Oblad can stay in the pocket and even with the accuracy mentioned is still more accurate than Armani. Armani should try out for receiver. Oblad showed us more in one season than Armani has in three.
I'm all for the best QB and if it's someone other than Oblad right now then get him in there.

I think our starting QB next year is not on the roster right now.
Oblad was a freshman that came in during the middle of the season and did a decent job. With a good QB coach I expect he will improve leaps and bounds, and see the same for Armani. I believe one of those two will end up as the starting QB, and expect it will be Oblad.
Probably depends more on what offense he intends on installing. If he needs a quarterback with legs, Oblad ain't starting. If he needs one that can complete a 5 yard out, Armani ain't starting. If he needs both, maybe we are SOL.
The thought of a true freshman or a JC guy starting next year doesn't excite me.
Unless you're thinking we can beat out Oklahoma, Bama, LSU, etc for a top grad transfer?
Oblad is the guy. He showed a lot of promise as a Freshman. He will really benefit from having a proper D1 coaching staff develop his skills further....After seeing Armani's progress flatline for 3 years it was evident our QB coach had no idea wtf he was doing.
Or - just maybe - the kid isn’t a QB.
Genuinely think it's more likely that Odell was an abysmal QB coach than Oblad isnt a D1 FBS middle-of-the-pack-or-better starter.
Not that hes an NFL draft pick or anything at this point. Not even saying he's a great QB. But he was done a disservice in the QB room, imo. Not an elite QB and I dont expect Arroyo to be able to find one in the next 3 years. But I think they will get more out of him.
*contingent upon the system being run, as is the situation with all QBs* Armani could be great if not asked to pass the ball more than a handful of times in the course of a game....
Oblad is a QB. I meant maybe Armani didn’t develop well not because of a poor QB coach - maybe it’s because Armani is just a poor QB or not even a QB.
Without a doubt He should switch over to TE. With his size and athletics he could be a game changer. IMO.
Sure the guy can't survive a season at QB too fragile but he'll thrive as a TE in the trenches and going over the middle. Not logical in my opinion.
That was in CTS system - he may be superb in Arroyo's. Note: I am not an advocate for AR...just playing devil's advocate
I hear ya. You could be right. But, in three years the guy couldn't figure out the CTS system. He only has one year left and I don't have the confidence he will figure out a new system.
Couldn't Armani improve with better coaching?
Oblad showed flashes, but he had his own accuracy issues.
He definitely throws a more catchable ball.
Really comes down to who fits what Arroyo wants to on offense.
I may be a minority here, and I agree he has been inconsistent to put it kindly, but I, for some strange reason, think AR is going to be okay.
No Stanford LB coach is new DC. Unless something crazy happened I'm not aware of in the last few minutes.
