Price tag for practice facility?

This article mentions how much the school is trying to raise for the building. Is this the first time we've heard cost numbers? And at $26mil, any guesses on how big it will be?

I think Boise's was 70k sq ft at $22mil.

Cost was rumored between 25 million and 30 million dollars.

From what I understand it would be built in the open area adjacent to the practice fields. (I think that area is large enough to put another football field if that gives some perspective).

I remember when coach Sanchez was first hired Mark Anderson said he was hearing upwards of 30 million dollars would be going to UNLV football in some capacity. I think those numbers are to close to be just a coincidence.

During Spring practice I spoke with Todd Dewey (current beat writer for football) quite a bit. He said the university was planning a practice facility with an estimated cost of 30 million dollars. He said they had half the necessary funds at the time but there was a little frustration in regards to how long it was taking to get the other half.

There was no insinuation it wasn't going to get done, just not as fast as they had hoped.

Cost I heard was around 20m and about half the funds were secured. It'd still enable groundbreaking and building while trying to get more funding.

Dewey said they were at 15 million which was half way to their goal.

Considering Todd is new to the beat I guess you have to take any figures being thrown out there with a grain of salt.

It doesn't have to be as big as Boise's but it will have a lot more "bells and whistles". It would cost a lot more if the anticipated contractors weren't so deeply connected to UNLV.
