I don’t even know what to think anymore. As bad as things have been for awhile, they’re rapidly getting worse in every aspect.

Decency, responsibility, work ethic … they’ve been bowled over by lunacy, irrationality, feelings … there’s just no common sense anymore.

How exactly is this more evidence that the country is going to ruins? The lady joined a super specific student loan repayment program created by Bush. She then made $850 a month payments for 5 years being told that after 10 total years of payments in the program the rest of her loans would be forgiven. During that time her loans were accumulating compound interest at 6% and there was nothing she could do since you cant refinance gov student loans and you have to be on a payment program that calculates your monthly payment based on salary (so most of the time you're paying less than you need to keep the loan from growing). Then after 5 years of paying loans she is told "oh sorry we were wrong you dont actually qualify (despite us telling you that you did for 5 years) because you never reconsolidated your loans." At that point she is screwed.

This is actually going back and fixing a total screw up by the government and loan providers and a sign that things are working.

Any of y'all could qualify. You just have to work for a non profit or qualifying government organization for 10 years. There's also program for medical professionals that's been around forever that will pay as much as 100k for 3 years for working in rural settings.

The whole point of the program was to level the playing field … and attract people to work for less and at less desirable jobs with a carrot at the end of a stick... only for the carrot to be yanked away.

Wow! You really believe the AVERAGE public sector worker makes less than average others workers? Program sounds like public sector fleecing americans to pad public sector more.

Point is, all these special programs just begat more special programs and that is one of many reasons we are trillions in debt.
