So up here in Utah, the HS baseball teams practice at indoor facilities (I guess that's not limited to up here, as they practice indoor in Vegas during the winter too)....but anyway, our HS coach has put a practice facility in his parent's back yard. The other day, we were at the facility and our HS coach's dad came in an was watching practice.

I mentioned that I was born & raised in LV, and we got to talking about Vegas. He worked at the Nevada Test Site in the 50's, he was telling me how they spent a lot of time in Las Vegas, and how different it was back then. He said that the Test Site had formed a basketball team, and they would play against Nellis Air Force Base, and when Nevada Southern started a team, they played against them in the Dula Center.

I had to laugh when he said the Dula Center...because anybody that played a lot of pick up basketball in Vegas, heck, even in the 90's, played at the Dula Center. I played there a few times, until there was a shooting there. I'm sure games are still being played there now....but it got pretty scary in the 90's.

Anyway, I just thought it was cool to talk to somebody that played against some the very first UNLV team. I also thought it was funny to hear of the teams they would play against. Mostly non-university type teams.
