So far I like what the new OC has been trying to do.

I really like Cotton and some of the productivity our offenses has been able to produce.

However, I really like the focus on the short passing game to help Armani get into rhythm, I like the utilization of the slot WR, TE's, and especially passing to the backs.

We are built to run, and that should still be the focus. But we do have some very talented receiving threats, and the more balanced we are through the air, the more effective the run will be. Just to keep the defense on their toes.

Obviously hard to extrapolate too much from the first game. But I'm hoping some of those philosophies carry over.

I do also like the short throws they have put in for Armani but During the last press conference CTS said that we will have to throw the ball down the field to be successful against Ark St. if he can’t connect on those throws he will have to start running the ball more than they would like which could ultimately lead to another injury and another year with the offense having to flip for the new QB whether it is KO or Gilliam.

Stretching the field vertically should be a part of the gameplan. I think previously it has been a too large percentage of our pass plays which has hurt our pass % and efficiency.

But you have to punish defenses that may try to load the box.

I saw a lot more creativity last week than under Cotton's watch. I'm not saying Cotton wouldn't have called a similar game, but 85% of every offensive play in the past had a similar formation and pre-snap action with the slot coming across the backfield with a read-option out of it. The route trees last week were mostly vanilla but if we can eat clock by matriculating down the field in the pass game then I'm for it. 3 and outs are this defense's enemy and a run up the middle or sweep on 1st down, incomplete pass on 2nd with a 3rd and long is what we are far too familiar with. A bad defense becomes worse under those scenarios.

Get some easy throws. Obtaining rhythm with AR and WRs is going to pay dividends in the future if he can feel confident in the pocket. These "easier" passes will do that. Getting to the outside with our speed and OL through the air is a winning formula. It reminds me a lot of what the Andy Reid/Eagles did with McNabb. Their running game was all throws out of the backfield. ****not going to lie it was maddening at times**** I don't want them to get all the way there since I believe we have the horses to make holes and exploit MWC defenses on the ground, but I can see the wisdom in this change.

Is it tomorrow yet?
