How do you justify this hire? Setting aside the emotional feel good aspects of this ...
- There is no marker for Kevin Kruger as a D1 coach. He is not on anyone’s radar ... not even a little bit.
- Lon helped get TJ the job; TJ returned the favor and gave Kevin a job. Is this how we want things to work?
- So why would DFR be willing to do Lon a favor and hire Kevin? I would bet dollars to donuts that Lon has promised to help DFR get a P5 gig. That’s a pretty big incentive for her to help Lon out.
- what has Kevin done to deserve this besides being the son of the guy who won the most post Tark? The answer is nothing. Setting aside how much I like Lon and the Kruger family, that doesn’t sit well with me at all.
But again, objectively speaking how is this a good hire? Because he may not bolt IF he wins? Because we’ll keep some of our current players and recruits? Um, sorry but that’s not enough, especially when you consider how bad we were under TJ.
