more than a culture of winning. Not coaches, not five star centers, not dusty national championship trophies. I'm kinda done right now...

There's a reason San Diego State is now 158-0 when leading with 5 minutes remaining. It's not their players. It's not Steve Fisher. It's their culture and BELIEF that they will win. (Insert very appropriate chant.)

Their freshman turn into sophomores, and into juniors, and into seniors, and they continually kick our ass every single season, because it's wash, rinse, repeat. Gonzaga has figured it out. So has Wichita State, VCU, Butler and other mid majors. Yet we keep bringing in coaches, paying them half what they should make, and pointing at our banners and demanding historic results....or else.

Guys, we simply lucked out getting a coach like Tarkanian. He made UNLV everything. He's a once-in-a-generation coach. He's never-ever coming back. If we ever want any semblance of success again, we must tip our hat to the past, acknowledge it's existence, turn our backs to it and look forward.

We have to sit down, look at our resources realistically and figure out what it takes to develop a winning program. Who are the right choices to begin that process? I honestly think that football is on the right path with CTS. If we can get football right and generating enough money to take care of itself, it's going to help with the basketball program immensely. This all takes millions of dollars, and blood, sweat & tears. It may take starting from the cellar & working our way up, just like SDSU did.

Are we going to do this right this time? Or are we going to be a school known for its National Champion Rebel Girls? (no offense, ladies).
