but if it was an out of work person (say Mora), you’d figure it’d be done by now. Not just because it would move more quickly with no games left to play but she’d have essentially had a one year jump on things since she tried to get him in last year and short of a bowl, Sanchez was out. So she’s had ample time to hire an out of work person.

The longer this goes, the worse it’s going to be, IMO. When you think of paying more for a HC, you also have to realize that brings a bump in pay for assistants. Paying, say, 40% for a HC is going to mean similar for the assistants. A guy in some sort of demand is going to want that, especially at a place as historically low as UNLV. It’s not as if this is a sought job. Not by people with higher potential.

If we cannot lure one of them, makes me think we are going to go with the more desperate (at worst) or looking for their first opportunity type of guy, one that wouldn’t probably be coming for several more years if given the natural progression of a coaching timeline. In other words, we may be plucking somebody way before they are ripe and crossing our fingers and painting and packaging it as a “young up and comer” to the media and fans.

I hope that’s not the way it goes because then, once again, it’s a Hail Mary and we keep trying that and they’re not only incomplete, their tipped at the line of scrimmage and returned the other way for a touchdown.

I hope she “gets it done”. No faith here but that shouldn’t be surprising. I’ve seen nothing from her that says she can get anything here turned around. Wholly unimpressed so far with her.
