last night was a very good opener. FAMU didn't look 100% into it. But still, to out up 100+ and could have been much more, was impressive.

Thought the team play, passing, shooting, it's exciting.

Reserve myself a bit given the last several years disappointments. But I'm impressed with this team given this is really the 1st year MM has had to get things going. Time will tell and some better competition.

Overall I thought they looked solid, but Florida A&M is far from a formidable opponent. Juiston looks like the real deal. If his work ethic on the boards can rub off on McCoy, he could be insane too.

Fun game, as I said in an earlier thread, Clyburn will not be starting for long. I thought Smith would be the one to overtake him but it might be Beck or Hardy. So many combinations that MM can go with. I really like it when all 3 guards are out there. When you have McCoy & Juiston underneath clearing the boards, well sometimes you won't need another guy to rebound. Hardy is gonna be a real special player for us.

Wanna go big? McCoy, Juiston, Beck, Dembele and (Hardy or Johnson or Jojo).

Wanna go small? Jojo, Hardy, Johnson, Smith & Beck.

A buddy & I looked at each other last night and thought about the 76-77 team that averaged as many points as we scored last night, no 3 pt shot and we weren't playing FAMU every night!

Needed to play better d on the 3 pt line. Thought the starters played way too many minutes in this one. Game was over very early. We need to keep Johnson fresh as I see him being the most important player to our team. Good start to the season, I am excited.

Excited. Team playing soft schedule to start but I doubt we get pushed around under the basket. Rebels actually gave a pure PG! Should be a fun season and looks like a hard working team that fans can get behind.

Fun game to watch for sure. You can definitely see the potential. I really liked what I heard from CMM and the players after the game where the basic theme was: We did some good but we have a lot of things to work on and a long ways to go. The guys have the right attitude to make this a very successful and fun season.

Did you see the game.

Yes. FAMU wasn't impressive, and it looked like they threw in the towel before the 2nd half finished. But they also played a game Friday night, so might have had some fatigue from that. They lost that game to Grand Canyon :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

But regardless. It was a good opening game against a cup cake. Lots to work on, but lots of positives as well. Considering where this team was last year, with all the new guys coming in, the team play looked good.

Surprised so quite on the board. Perhaps because we won.

It would've been quiet if we lost. It'll take some convincing wins against legit teams and a tournament run to bring people back from their apathetic state of mind regarding UNLV basketball.

We're so thin at guard, heaven help us if one of the three goes down. Very happy with Juiston, Johnson, and McCoy - they look like the real deal.

In my opinion, after watching Saturday's game, was that McCoy is the real deal, but the one player the Rebels could least afford to go down would be Jordan Johnson. He's the MVP of this team.

It's so refreshing to have a quality point guard, a pure PG, in a Rebel uni. It's been so long. Who was our last one? Dickel?

Even though Kevin Kruger and Curtis Terry weren't 'pure' point guards like Dickel they were great leaders and floor generals by their own right. I'd take guys like them at the point in a heart beat.

You're all correct. It was just a quick impression, that I knew was going to get me in trouble, as soon as I posted it. I am duly chastised.

That's cool.

But I stand by my assessment (albeit one whole game into the season) of Johnson's importance to the success of the Rebels going forward.
