Defense looks improved for sure. I doubt it’ll be anywhere 43 when the dust settles though. Still, they actually kept us in a game in which the offense sputtered a long. There’s something to be said about that.
The way I see it … we are UNLV … even in games where we are favored, it will be a challenge. I’m liking what I’m seeing so far overall, but the team hasn’t solidified anything.Nah, that was a few seasons ago with Baer as DC.
I want to say we got close to 20 last year.
Look, ISU is not a good team. But Cal is a P5 squad and Rebs registered 4 more against them, and held them to three points in the 2nd half. Also kept them under 100 yds rushing.
N. Texas can move the ball a bit. This will be a challenge.
Sounds like Arroyo must be something right.
Who is missing in the secondary? Why? How long? We'll see..
I still think he needs to get to 5 to show real improvement.
But...
Defense lost it's best player (Jacoby) and it's most promising player (B. Scott) and has been pretty solid so far, particularly against the run. They have been down a starter in the secondary so that may account for a couple of issues/plays there.
Offensively, not great last game, but Cal had a solid defense last year and returned a lot of dudes.
Biggest question mark so far has been shakey Oline play.
I think there is some promise..
6 win promise? Too early to say..

Yea, wasn't Ricky Johnson coming on strong last year with an interception against SDSU that was spectacular. So basically 1 projected starting safety and one projected starting CB.

Yeah, he's been balling out for sure. 5.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles in 2 games. Now he has been playing MAC teams, but he basically put up nearly a whole UNLV season's worth of splash plays in 2 games. We'll see how he holds up in BIG play, but I think the transfer was the right move for him given UNLV's current status. He'll get on a lot more tape and might work himself into a mid round draft pick somewhere.Holy Jacoby...
You seen what that dudes done over 2 games?
Small sample size...
But good lord...
