As a guy who listens to a lot of podcasts, I am always looking for some kind of content in my ears while I'm driving, so I follow all the UNLV related shows I can find.Cofield with Caleb H
These two did a very good job talking about our team. This was the first ever podcast that I listened to so I don’t know how the other one is, or how others are in general.
Agreed wish they talked about the trenches more. It’s not sexy, but it wins games. A little overly positive about everything. Either way just good to listen about unlv football. So the one thing about this podcast that bothers me is the failure to truly talk about the O line.
Zero acknowledgment on how poor they played last season and how important improvement of the unit is for the success of this offense, and arguably the team.
You can swoon over Aidan Robbins as much as you want, but he is a big boy and he needs a semblance of a hole to run through.
Chuck was the only one on the team that could do anything with the run game because he was a special player of small stature that can turn something into nothing. To have the vision to turn a small opening into a hole. Courtney Reese is smaller and couldn't find those same holes.
This O line seems to be a bit rebuilt which is great. But they have to be significantly better this year. To run and to pass. Since this unit couldn't give our QB's more the a half second nearly every drop back last year.
They had segment of the biggest question marks on the team as units. They picked TEs, RBs, and the D line.Agreed wish they talked about the trenches more. It’s not sexy, but it wins games. A little overly positive about everything. Either way just good to listen about unlv football.
Caleb herring is my favorite to about rebel football. Really understands the game and doesn’t sugar coat things.
I would also say that the secondary is a big question mark, especially with current injuries to Ricky Johnson and Lacarea Pleasant-Johnson. If our defense wants to make strides, it starts with limiting the big passing plays we consistently give up.They had segment of the biggest question marks on the team as units. Complete cop out.
TEs? a "unit" where there at most are 2 on the field, sometimes none.
RB's and D line has had probably some of the biggest offseason additions from the transfer portal. So easy to talk about them to boost them up. Sure you lose Chuck, our entire running is gone, so there is a question mark there for sure
D line had a big loss to injury. But again some big additions. Also in a 3-4, the D line just need to take space and absorb blockers. Still important, but not as impactful as other schemes.
O line has had additions, but less sexy/proven. But in order to give all of these great skill postition players- the WRs that they won't shut up about, the wealth of talent at QB, and some of the new RBs, the O line has do bebetter than terrible. And they have been objectively terrible.
