New Hey Reb Podcast

Listening to Tony & Joe is okay but, I want my fix of the Rebel-Net Radio Podcast with Joe and T.E., Please!

Cofield with Caleb H

These two did a very good job talking about our team. This was the first ever podcast that I listened to so I don’t know how the other one is, or how others are in general.
As a guy who listens to a lot of podcasts, I am always looking for some kind of content in my ears while I'm driving, so I follow all the UNLV related shows I can find.

I really enjoy listening to Steve and Caleb. I think they have solid chemistry. Caleb is an excellent voice to have around the program. Really get into the in depth stuff he dives into.

The Hey Red podcast with Tony Cordasco and Joe Arrigo has been a solid listen through 3 episodes, too. Different style and different banter and such, and both can speak to different areas of the university and specifically the football program. More discussion about the program never hurt anyone!

I started to listen to the hey reb podcast. I'm through an Episode and a half.

I know these are probably the biggest Homers homer history. They should call it the Hey Reb fellatio podcast.

But that being said, it is still giving me some juice for the upcoming season. Hopefully it will be a fun year

So the one thing about this podcast that bothers me is the failure to truly talk about the O line.

Zero acknowledgment on how poor they played last season and how important improvement of the unit is for the success of this offense, and arguably the team.

You can swoon over Aidan Robbins as much as you want, but he is a big boy and he needs a semblance of a hole to run through.

Chuck was the only one on the team that could do anything with the run game because he was a special player of small stature that can turn something into nothing. To have the vision to turn a small opening into a hole. Courtney Reese is smaller and couldn't find those same holes.

This O line seems to be a bit rebuilt which is great. But they have to be significantly better this year. To run and to pass. Since this unit couldn't give our QB's more the a half second nearly every drop back last year.

Agreed wish they talked about the trenches more. It’s not sexy, but it wins games. A little overly positive about everything. Either way just good to listen about unlv football.

Caleb herring is my favorite to about rebel football. Really understands the game and doesn’t sugar coat things.

They had segment of the biggest question marks on the team as units. They picked TEs, RBs, and the D line.

Complete cop out.

TEs? a "unit" where there at most are 2 on the field, sometimes none.

RB's and D line has had probably some of the biggest offseason additions from the transfer portal. So easy to talk about them to boost them up. Sure you lose Chuck, our entire running is gone, so there is a question mark there for sure

D line had a big loss to injury. But again some big additions. Also in a 3-4, the D line just need to take space and absorb blockers. Still important, but not as impactful as other schemes.

O line has had additions, but less sexy/proven. But in order to give all of these great skill postition players- the WRs that they won't shut up about, the wealth of talent at QB, and some of the new RBs, the O line has do bebetter than terrible. And they have been objectively terrible.

I would also say that the secondary is a big question mark, especially with current injuries to Ricky Johnson and Lacarea Pleasant-Johnson. If our defense wants to make strides, it starts with limiting the big passing plays we consistently give up.

The podcast is a fun listen but definitely is all sugar. The most daring thing about the podcast is the name, given that it is the mascot whose name shall not be spoken.

Still, it seems as if there is room for optimism. This team lost six one-score games, some of them late. That was with 4 guys getting QB playing time and a defense that seemed to run out of gas late.

This O-line has 4 starters and 3 backups who are returning guys. Looking at last season listed weights and this year, it appears this group lost weight. Hopefully they'll be more athletic but knowing the linemate next to you is a good thing.

Receiver core has 2 returners and has a lot of love from the podcast.

RBs have 3 returners and Reese is listed as having gained 10. The last Power-5 RB transfer I remember (and I'm no savant) was Alton Tenpenny. He had a different look but the attitude seemed to be all over the place but it would have been fun to see what he could have done in this conference. Haven't seen Aidan but this could be fun.

D has 8 starters and 6 backups listed as returning guys. Secondary 3 of 4 all listed as gaining weight. Last year's underclassmen who put up a fight last year could be promising.

As always with Rebel football, I have tempered optimism. Last year hurt so much because they were so close.

Here's hoping we are going to enjoy Sunday's breakfast.
