As with all new things, it usually starts with endings. To the players and coaches who are in their way out the door i bid u goodbye, good luck and good riddance.
This isn't a slander thread, so i won't go down that road. I won't say that i won't miss certain people, but IMO this is going to be the best for everyone involved. Everyone gave it their all, but we know the results of that. I commend them for the effort and i'll leave it at that.
For those that do stay (I can only speculate at this juncture like the rest of u as to who that will be), all i can say is get ready. The time for bullsh!tting is over and done with.
The meetings with Beard told me all i needed to know. He's not going to tolerate what has transpired the last few years. The fact that so many have tucked tail and left go to show that the players who will be brought in to replace them might not be on par talent-wise, but they will be the antithesis of the mentality and mindset that has plagued this program. That's what we need more than anything IMO.
The dust isn't going to settle for a while yet. There's a lot of recruiting to do and a staff (Which will have no holdovers on it) to assemble. For once, i don't have the slightest idea of what to expect. We know that CCB took a depleted program in UALR and turned them into a demon defensive team that won 30 games and an NCAA tourney showdown over a legit B10 team. What we don't know is if it can be duplicated.
I keep hearing questions about what the timeline should look like to get this thing turned around. To that i say no one can answer that question, but u. What can u tolerate? For me, i think it will be looking up sooner rather than later. Time will tell, but i'm ready for this new era. It's been a long time coming.
