With DRF’s name being thrown around for the USC job there is little doubt that others will be calling as well. No doubt in my mind Tony Sanchez should be considered if he doesn’t go bowling. Loves Vegas, unashamed of Vegas & talks up Vegas.

So if she left before the season is over and Tony got the job would he fire himself? Inquiring minds want to know.

I've only seen one person mention the USC/DRF possibility. Any real tread on those tires? She has hired one coach who has never coached a game. I know that's not all that matters and she's obviously capable, intelligent, and seems to know what she's doing.

But that doesn't seems like the kind of hire a school like USC would make - they'd go after a BSU AD or something, someone with a more stable program who knows how it should be done.

I just saw a cbs.com article that put DRF’s name first in the article as the kind of innovative AD that USC needs.

Did you just suggest Tony Sanchez as athletic director? He can't run a successful football team but you want him to run the entire athletic department? you must be kidding.

He may be struggling with Xs and Os, but I believe he might be good in an administrative role.

He's a pretty charismatic guy.

Understands what is needed to build a program

He just may not be able to seal the deal on the coaching end...

He wouldn't be my first choice. He'll probably have to do something else first to build resume, but I could see him in that type of role possibly.

The optics of taking someone who failed as the football coach, elevated to the AD position would be awful.

That being said, DRF, could conceivably leave, but not for USC or a higher level.
She could possibly move laterally, or even down, just to escape, but not upward.

Definitely.

My take was a down the road scenario.

Immediately?

Hell no..

Hire someone as AD who has zero administrative experience makes no sense. So he’s virtually guaranteed the job at UNLV.

To be clear, my biggest concern is that UNLV 's AD job is no plum position. Folks with great experience and talent will look at a lot more schools before the accept the position here.

While her name was mentioned. She will not be hired at USC. They cannot take a chance on this hire. Also won’t hire anybody associated with school.

We're either a stepping stone or a retirement spot, sad to say, and it seems to be mostly tied to compensation. Can't complain about the facilities (some yet to come online) or the market. Okay, I guess there is that can't-quite-put-a-finger-on-it systemic issue....

As of now she has done nothing to show why any major school would consider her as the AD. The football program has seen an improvement in ticket sales based on the new stadium that she really had little to do with, she has made a hire for basketball, but we don't know if that is a good hire until he has a chance to coach. As for other sports or fund raising, I really haven't seen anything that stands out which would provide a reason for any major program to make her an offer.
