I remember when this used to be something that everyone looked forward to, but now it barely elicits a yawn from the faithful. With all the media platforms and no shortage of "experts" and opinions, the only thing that might catch someone's attention is a personal interest story... if it's not just a rehash of a half-dozen we've already read. Not too many surprises anymore. But this may all be a byproduct of the past and predicted success of your favorite team. Hard to get fired up for last place. Than again, you never know....

Here's a couple of my fearless predictions:

Unanimous choice to finish last: UNLV
Biggest surprise: UNM
West Champ: UNR
Mtn Champ: BSU
Conf. Champ: BSU
DPOY: Cade Hall, SJSU
OPOY: Carson Strong, UNR
COY: Danny Gonzales, UNM
Hot Seat: Steve Addazio, CSU

Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson told me fully vaccinated players won't have to test this fall. Those that aren't vaccinated will have to test - and the schools are on the hook for the bill.

Nothing like a little incentive! Everyone has their reason for vaxxing/not vaxxing. Difficult position for the programs to be in while still trying to respect everyones personal choices. If guys haven't vaxxed and this pushes them towards it, the sooner the better. Get any possible reaction in the rearview.

I just can't wrap my head around everyone, not just athletics, having only the unvaccinated get tested. Those vaccinated are also still getting the virus. Whether it's in lesser numbers or not matters little

Breakthroughs are expected and represent about 0.098% of those fully vaccinated. The risk of getting severely ill from COVID-19 after receiving a vaccine is low, according to CDC.

I am unfamiliar with data relating to asymptomatic break through infections.
