Not exactly... We can walk away from the agreement at any time, just ask the Pac 12 losers... It might cost us some money, but if those exit fees get negotiated down to 10-13 million dollar range and out media rights deal is trash and we dont get the money promised by the MOU, there are grounds for us to leave as well...Why doesn't Gloria tell us what our media contract is first. How much money are we going to get before we start giving it away. She had said that we would be spending some of the poaching and exit fees on adding some schools so I hope we get our money first before she starts giving that away as well.
We ****ed ourselves by signing that GOR. Dumbest thing we did. Now Gloria can do whatever the hell she wants and we are stuck with this mess.
I replied in the Hawaii thread which also brought up this same discussion. As I said there yes we can leave at anytime but we won't see any income until 2032. Florida State and Clemson have the same problem in the ACC.Not exactly... We can walk away from the agreement at any time, just ask the Pac 12 losers... If they cannot pay the agreed amount to Unlv/AFA then the whole thing is moot and we can walk. Why doesn't Gloria tell us what our media contract is first. Again, that's only if the GOR can be deemed legally binding with regards to the conditions being met and the circumstances under which it was signed. Its not as clear cut as the ACC as they had just signed a significant $ contract and they knew what that dollar amount would be. The clauses within the GOR dictate that money has to be given and paid to UNLV before the GOR is valid. Should UNLV argue that the conditions of the MOU used to generate the GOR were under similar duress conditions(ie- pressure from the conference to make a decision, $$ promises that were not able to be kept) then the whole thing could be deemed unenforceable. Again, were all arguing conjecture based on the premise that the PAC 12 gets out of its legal battles with minimal damage and the MWC can not meet the obligations listed in the GOR to maintain UNLV... If the Pac 2 can claim duress knowing full well that within 12 months theyd be violating that agreement and win, UNLV could very much argue that the financial situation was not transparent and the conference did not meet their end of the agreement, etc... Thats for lawyers and legal scholars to argue in the next decade when all this stuff shakes out..I replied in the Hawaii thread which also brought up this same discussion.
