Mountain West College Football Power Rankings: UNLV Trails Only Boise State
We are inching closer to the kickoff of the 2025 college football season, and the teams in the Mountain West Conference have wrapped up their spring practice schedules.

Good question!I don't follow college football enough so why would Boise be the favorite and potential top 10 team after losing Jeanty?
Because, UNLV hasn't beaten Boise St since 1976.I don't follow college football enough so why would Boise be the favorite and potential top 10 team after losing Jeanty?
That would explain being ranked in front of UNLV, but not as a potential top 10 team!Because, UNLV hasn't beaten Boise St since 1976.
Hope, it changes this year.
Boise St, is not a Top 10 team. That would explain being ranked in front of UNLV, but not as a potential top 10 team!
Let’s hope so..I have a feeling Jeanty is going to end up being to Spencer Danielson what Tom Brady was to Bill Belichick. and BSU is going to take a big step backwards like the patriots did.
I dont think theres a prayer they are better in 2025 than they were in 2024. Without Jeanty, I'm not convinced Danielson has the chops.I don't follow college football enough so why would Boise be the favorite and potential top 10 team after losing Jeanty?

This is what I was referring to:Boise St, is not a Top 10 team.
Sure would be lovely to send out BSU with a loss in their final MWC conference year with a loss to the Rebs in the title game. It’s time for this to change, now’s the time and this is the team to take the MWC crown!
I don't mind losing to a Jeanty type of player. I do mind losing to Madsen, who was basically the player that beat us in both games last year and will likely be selling life insurance in 3 years. Same thing with McCord, but he may have a decent NFL backup career. I really liked Sherer but he couldn't figure out the Temu Baker Mayfield QB who just fires off 3-5 yard passes. It’s time for this to change, now’s the time and this is the team to take the MWC crown!
This is prolly our last year ever playing them for a long time.Good question!
We really need to “put a foot” to their backside this year and every year going forward to get out of the Boise State shadow!
I think theres a good chance theyre top 20 when we play them in October. They recruited pretty well not a ton of defection and while Jeanty was amazing and will be tough to replace his production, Boise still has a lot of talent. They'll be good again next season.
Some people talk like BSU was mediocre before Jeanty and that's where they'll go back to. Ashton was a generational talent at this level, no question. Heck, he broke Cedric Minter's BSU rushing records that had stood since the late 70's, and Minter never made the NFL, though he was pretty good in the CFL for years. Anyway, back to now.... Gaines got hurt early last season vs Oregon, missed a couple games, tried it again vs Portland St, aggravated it, then was shut down for the season. They thought maybe he'd be able to play vs Penn St, but didn't. They said he was gonna participate in Spring, but didn't. At this point, he's Henry Buckley. They will very much be RB by committee. Malik Sherrod, transfer from Fresneck, made a strong case in the spring.I think theres a good chance theyre top 20 when we play them in October.
Madsen is pretty sold, and they got Gaines at RB. Should be a solid opportunity
