Guys were in shells today.
Stanton had one of his best practices to date, and seems to be getting more comfortable with the offense and his receivers. This was the most accurate and decisive I have seen him with his passes. Palandech had a solid practice and looks more comfortable now than he did a year ago. I think however Stanton is starting to pull ahead in the battle for the starting job. Sneed had a TD pass to Holt, but had a somewhat uneventful day otherwise.
All the running backs had good moments today. Xzavier Campbell has shown a little more burst than we saw last year. All the backs had at least one big moment. Lexington Thomas made a nice catch on a wheel route over Mark Finua. David Green continues to flash the athleticism that makes you wonder what could have been, if he could have avoided injuries. Keith Whitely has been steady, and laid a good pop on a DB while finishing a run.
Boyd was absent from practice. He has been nursing an injury during the entire camp, so he may have been given the day off, total speculation on my part. This is becoming redundant, but Darren Woods had another good practice. Made a nice adjustment along the sideline to haul in a pass from Lopez, to go along with a TD catch on a pass from Palandech. With Boyd's absence Brandon Presley stepped up and hauled in a TD from Stanton in the corner of the endzone along with a tough catch going over the middle.
On the defensive side..
Jason Fao blew up back to back plays. Fao looks to be 1a behind Hughes and Alo-Wily. I expect to see him in a heavy rotaion with those two. Alo-Wily is an amazing athlete for a kid his size. Motor never seems to stop either. Red shirt freshmen Javin White put a big hit on Dalton Sneed causing a fumble. White has been running with the 2s and looks to be getting more and more comfortable. Physically this kid looks like a protoype safety in todays football. The only thing holding him back at this point is experience.
