Mississippi State was ridiculously mediocre under Howland, he was just looking for some extra pay heading into retirement obviously, he had free reign to cheat in the SEC and he was extraordinarily ordinary, this coming from a coach who had a couple of FFs to just skating by putting up boring numbers. I bet few knew he was at Miss State those that did probably didn’t know he’s gone.
I’m glad we didn’t get him here, like the first time he wanted to come here, he was about money and security at that point in his life, at least UNLV didn’t allow themselves to be used by him.
But now they’re ranked without him. Missed the NCAA’s in Howlands last three years, made it the first two without him. More slow growth.
And now they are ranked. Slow growth for the win. But not today. Dedan is too much for them.

Not so sure that Memphis is all that good a loss anymore considering UConn is now 4-3 on the season (lost to Dayton 85-67 yesterday). The bright spot on the schedule for UNLV against Memphis is a little dimmer now. Mississippi State is one of the few chances they have out of conference to make any mover towards respectability. Now on to football!

Miss st killing us on the boards as every decent to good team does. We would be ok with decent boards.
Miss st has more offensive rebounds than we have rebounds. Ckk seems to love small ball. Does not work if you cannot rebound. Last year and this year, same story.
Wonder if Harper is kicking the tires on firing Kruger before conference play and seeing what the rest of the staff can do…

This is program building. Kevin needs time. We’ve made serious steps every year.
It’s not just that we lose games like yesterday, it’s how we lose those games by getting beat in all phases of the game! Kevin should be done as soon as possible, he has shown us all who he is, we need to believe him.
I said in another thread that we will know football's status soon enough. Meaning, the contracts of the coaches and how much money needs to go there in its entirety. From that, we can determine how much we can allocate to replacing Kevin. Even if we have the same amount for his replacement, we can get better results.
A change needs to be made.
Kevin started four guards and one center vs the #25 team in the nation. A menu for an embarrassment. The tall young redshirt proudly sits on the bench and Cherry is left alone with two seniors who can't jump because of injuries. A PG who can't or won't pass but will drive to his left for a hope and a prayer layup. Time to go was before we signed the MWC fiasco stay in the league garbage. What coach would want to recruit to this loser league.

We are playing better than last night but still too many errors. Kids standing around on the offensive end. Just not very good basketball at all.

6-5 seems like a very safe and likely prediction. But we thought that after the early going and they upset some ranked team named Creighton.
