Only one midnight, Lute Olsen and coach Tark back in 80s, man it was great time in UNLV hoops.
The only reason why I moved to LV to attend UNLV in 1990. I spent one year at Dixie in 1989, which probably wouldn’t have changed but when it was time to transfer to a 4 year school UNLV wouldn’t have been on my radar if it wasn’t for BB. I don’t know where I would have ended up? I grew up in SoCal before heading to Dixie for that one year. A lot of my friends at Dixie transferred to University of Utah which I also considered.
I can’t even imagine how much different my life would be today had I headed to SLC? I met my wife at UNLV, so I wouldn’t be married to her. She came to UNLV from Boston for the same reasons. So I guess we owe Tark a thank you for us meeting?
When I left vegas, came to this awful DC area, everyone knew Runnin Rebels and Tark, as kid it was great, Those miserable little ego maniacs who hated tark, f them, what UNLV could have become, no doubt in my mind UNLV would have multiple more titles, and be in PAC for while, f UNR too, lol my rant is over with!
I was at UNLV from Fall of 89-92 I think I knew you rebswin2 because I was good friends with Marcellus Wallace or as we know him, Shawn Esgate. I know for a fact, during the glory days of BB, there were many kids from the Midwest and back East who went to UNLV because of hoops. And everyone would give a tip of the hat when I had on my Rebels gear, out of admiration for Tark, Larry, Ice, George, Anderson, Butler, Mo, Jeter, Young, Jones and of course Greg.
Esgate and I were roommates. I think you told me before but we must have known each other right? We lived in the dorms not as roommates the ‘90-‘91 school year and basically went out every night to bars together. We were roommates in ‘91-‘92 at Paradise Bay Club.
I don’t know if you knew him but my roommate in the dorms was LD.
I remember… I was at Paradise Bay Club for about a year too, we overlapped there for a minute. I know you guys were in good with Bobby and Evric too!
I’m Still good friends with Evric we see each other when I’m in SLC or he is in SD his daughter lives here
