of an opportunity. Marvin Coleman.
Had Munchies been here, it’s reasonable to expect Coleman would be buried behind the kid that’s playing in the P-12. Name eludes me. But if Munchies brought in the other kid, it would have been to start and it’s doubtful a young former walk-on would see the minutes. He may have even been the second back up at point.
This year, if Long doesn’t go down, it’s fair to think Coleman’s minutes stay low. Maybe enough, maybe not enough to show what he could do.
With the door wide open, he displayed his stuff and blossomed and it can be argued that he’s overall “better” than either of the other two possibilities, but we’d have never know. Coleman isn’t great, but I think we can all agree he’s been solid at the very least and a lifesaver to some degree (I think he saved UNLV’s ass directly late in two wins). I can see his stats, they’re solid, they’re a bit negatively skewed because he barely got minutes in about 5 games or roughly 20% of the season and they do count against his per game averages. I can’t be sure, can’t remember the other dude’s name, but I suspect his numbers can’t be much better, if they even are, than Coleman’s. The kid deserves a ton of credit for grabbing the bull by the horns and staying patient.
