Luis Rodriguez transfer portal commit - from Ole Miss

From one Rebel team to another Rebel team! Was the lead player for steals with 42, and second in rebounds with 167, and third in assist last season.

247 showed him as 100% going to North Carolina State. The 247 transfer portal has him listed as a 0.8979 composite score, which would make him the highest rated of the transfer class to date.

UNLV is currently listed 5 for the 247 transfer portal rankings without even including Luis, which would likely put UNLV at #1 for the transfer class to date!

I was down on Kevin not long ago, thought this was a disaster with Hartman, Lindsay leaving, Williams declaring and the early whiffs in recruiting but Kevin and Co. are proving more than capable of building on things. Well done so far, get a couple more “key” guys like Udeze and a big man to go with a Williams return and Kevin and his staff will get my hopes up for this coming season!

Well the team isn't going to win any 3 pt shooting contests anytime soon. Looks like we'll have to rely on defense and toughness to earn wins which is fine by me. I'd love for opposing teams to know they're going to get decked or smacked in the face trying some cutesy drive to the basket.

SDSU defensive style is also fine with me! I think some said the same about last year’s team when 3pt shooting was mentioned… but Harkless, Johnson, Parquet are okay. But an improved Webster, McCabe, Baker Rodriguez and hopefully a Williams return and I think 3pt shooting might not be 40% as a team but between 35-40% on most nights will be livable keeping the streak alive and well.

Thats how alot of GOOD teams win. We may not score that much ,but it will be more than u!

Hard to get excited about D1 transfers..any transfers really.
If it were highly touted group like Mike Moser, Chace Stanback, Tre Willis, and Jasper I can see it working. Of course they were mixed in with Ant, Bellfield and Massamba from high school. We have absolute zilch coming in from high school.

Nah, Trip. Hoya sees everything as negative. Fair enough. There is plenty to be concerned about.
I just think there are some positives.
Transfers/ High School? A different world than ever before. I think both based advantages and disadvantages.
What is happening to the college game? I have plenty of negative there.

So many Rebel greats were transfers either JUCO or from D1 schools.
Of course there were the amazing LJs and Greg Anthony’s back in the day and then there were also a few Cody Doolins.

I’d be happy with the level of Moser, Stanback, Jasper types and even the Roscoe Smith and Juiston caliber players.

Throw in a Tre'von Willis while we're at it

Robert Smith; Boyd Batts; David Butler; Ricky Sobers; the list is too long and too great to recount. Remember what Vitale called Coach Tark - the Father Flanagan of college basketball. He was vilified for it and now that’s how the game is played except that the norm is poaching wanted players rather than developing unwanted players, like he did. Ahead of his time in all kinds of ways.

We were taking about transfers and up until Terry’s senior year he was a turnover machine. Remember the no look pass to the SDSU mascot was it!?

Besides if anyone from those teams is worthy to build a team around it was Rene hands down.
Gondrazak (sp) asked him about the pass to the cheerleaders after the game. On the radio it seemed like Curtis’s reaction was like, “oh, we’ve got jokes” but he played it cool.
