A little earlier than usual.

UNLV faces one of the better defenses in the country. Not an ideal matchup for a team struggling to score points.

SDSU has some issues of their own on the offensive side of the ball. They rely heavily on their defense, play field position, run the ball and try to turn you over.

Line is currently 13.5

Rebs beat SDSU last season on the road with Gilliam as the starter.

Oblad gets the start Saturday, but if he struggles I could see him getting a relatively quick hook and Coach Sanchez going to Gilliam.

I think this one stays close to the line or Rebs cover.

SDSU just isn't built to win in blowouts.

SDSU 27
UNLV 21

(Rebs get a late score and make it interesting)

At this point we could have Harry Doyle announcing the games and he could say anything he wants. Then follow it up with “Nobody’s listening anyway.”

We’ll lose. Who gives a rip what the score is when the L-column grows yet again.

We’ll score about 17, they’ll score more.

That’s what I figured 42-17 San Diego St

Truth of it is...

Most of us have been beat down for so long, if a coach had a career arc of..

Year 1: 5 - 7
Yea 2: 6 - 6 Bowl game
Year 3: 7 - 5 Bowl game
Year 4: 7 - 5 Bowl game

Hired away after Year 4..

Add in dude having a winning record against Reno, we would annoint him the Patron Saint of Lost Causes and start a GoFundMe page to errect a statue on campus..

That's how low our expectations are. (Well at least mine are).

Hell I would be happy if a guy finnished with a .500 record here, but was at least fighting for bowl eligibility and getting there every other year or so...

With this new stadium next year, the AD better either be able to make a good hire for a football coach (including finding the money to pay them highest in the MWC) or don't let the door hit her in the ass on the way out. As for people talking about her looking to go to a major program, she first needs to do anything that would put her out of the bottom tier of AD's. If she does make a good hire, it really doesn't matter if she stay or leaves as long as we find the coach we need to perform a miracle! It can happen!

It’s going to be a low double digit margin.

But I don’t know who will win.

SDSU has only scored over 30 once.

They just aren't a very explosive team on offense.

If Rebs protect the ball, and find any success in the run game they can keep this one close.

SDSU had running backs with big play potential in the past. Not as much the last two years.

Defense is still nasty, but their inability to move the ball consistently, keeps opponents in games. They are one of those teams if they are up 10 it feels like 20.

Rebs got them last year by being efficient in run game and Gilliam making a couple passes to keep them honest.

Limit turnovers, Rebs have a shot. Oblad cannot put the ball in danger. If it ain't there throw it away.

This is the type of game where even if the Rebs don't score a drive can be viewed as successful if they can flip the field.

Defense has to be stout against the run, something they have struggled with all year..

Rebels pull the upset and the "Next Coach:" thread cools down a bit for next week.

I could honestly see it happening.

It's as much about SDSU's offensive deficiencies as it is about UNLV.

In terms of style, they play pretty straight up. There isn't a lot of deception to them. They don't use a ton of zone read, which has killed UNLV this year. Their QB isn't a statue, but he isn't nearly as mobile as Reyna or the Wyoming Quarterback.

They rely heavily on the run game but aren't averaging a lot of yards per carry.

UNLV takes care of the ball, they could hang around and pull an upset.

To many turnovers. They will run right at us and our defense we be on the field most the game

By the 4th quarter most of the crowd may be passed out, but it is in their car after they left the game at half time!

I hope not.

I think this game will stay close. At least it should.

As good as SDSUs defense has been, their offense has really struggled.

To be honest, CSU's offense and that game in Fort Collins scare me more.

It's easy to not be too scared about SDSU since we did get them last year.

But that was our for sure WTF game of the year last year.

Unfortunately I think Vandy may be our WTF game this year :grimace:

So I heard SDSU doesn't blow people out, they just barely beat other teams. I heard it's going to be close. SDSU 24 UNLV 21

The Rebs never do what I think except when we are 30 pt underdogs so since I think they will lose they will probably win! You could make a living betting opposite of me on the Rebs.

Thinking positive here. I am noticing a bit more speed and jump when our offense is getting off the field.
