I remember where I was at, the time of day and the big smile on my face; UNLV just picked up LO the top recruit in the country.

Lamar is a decent guy who, basketball prowess and the wealth it has brought him, notwithstanding. has been dealt an inordinate number of cold hands.

Sure, he made some questionable choices in an obvious attempt to dull his senses to the pain that life has inflicted upon him. But all those who know him best are unanimous in swearing that his kindness and generosity has always remained, despite his personal trials.

Recent reports seem to indicate that he might survive, and for that, I am extremely grateful.
I wish LO a speedy recovery and hopefully an opportunity to learn to deal with the issues that led him to this lowest of places in his young life...

As he desperately clung to life, and was fodder for the gossip pages, ESPN's Scott Van Pelt delivered, what struck me as a most poignant comment. Here is a link for anyone who's interested:

Questionable choices? Like rat out Dave Chapman?

Pick up hookers from Fremont Street?

In all honesty, I'd like to go out like him except use some Coke and E.

10 herbal viagras and 75,000 cash...

I remember exactly where i was when i heard on the radio he committed. I was across the street from tower records going to Boston pizza to get some wings! Gave a huge yell in the car and it all went down hill fast after that.

Well holy sh*t ,

Nevada Doctors actually saved a life

If you remember with Lamar it was a SI article that really got the ball going, I think it was that Kirkpatrick fellow that wrote the article (could be wrong?), questioning his test scores and implicating Greg "Shoes" Vetrone (who shortly reigned afterwards). Bottom line is (and I know this from an inside perspective) Bayno let the boosters have way too much power in the program. He let them in way further than they should've been. Hence being put on probation.

Lamar started in Vegas with prostitutes and 20 years later he still is doing prostitutes. He has had some high high's, and some low low's.

So you have no sympathy for a kid struggling to survive his "mean streets" of New York upbringing, but your concerned over Chapman, some idiot alum who is willing to pay players to come to UNLV?

Guys like that make us exactly the dirty program that the NCAA always claimed we were. Good riddance to him...
