Former #UNLVmbb RunninRebel Jalen Poyser ('15-'16, '16-'17) is headed to McNeese St to play for former UNLV assistant Heath Schroyer (2011-'14). Schroyer is now head coach at McNeese St.

Hasn’t he been around 11 years already?

Hasn’t he been around 11 years already?

This coming winter will be his fifth year, but since it appears he is not a grad transfer he should have to sit out a year, which raises the question... how can he be eligible in '20-'21 under the "five years to play four" limitation?

When he left St Bonny in May he was "going pro" and he wasn't going to use his final year of eligibility. His year there didn't end well, as his playing time dwindled to 13 minutes/game in the second half of the season due to poor shooting.

Who knows what loopholes there are anymore. NCAA lost control of so much stuff over the years.

I wouldn't say they have "lost control", because I don't look at the NCAA as being any sort of fair governing body. The NCAA is a business, and their policies are largely driven by profit/loss interest.

The recent NCAA promiscuity with letting players transfer all over I see as the result of two things: it costs them nothing (as long as the powerful schools they are more interested in are not hurt) and because giving athletes more "freedom" makes the athletes look less like employees (who need to be compensated).

He has to be a grad transfer. 2 years at UNLV and 2 years at St. Bon.

Poyser sat one and played one at SB.

Looking at the waiver justifications, Poyser would have a strong case for an exception to the five year span if he claims he was "pushed out of the program by a coach" as the reason he left UNLV.

I can’t and see the ncaa taking the time to look into the details of all these players and their situations. I’m sure they just rubber stamp many to get them off the docket. If someone complains, maybe they look into it.

The ncaa is NOT well staffed at all for things like this and there are a ton of cases.
