Rebs are top 60 in total defense and scoring defense. Top 20 in sacks (#12) with 10 through three games.

Outside of one year with Baer/Sanchez where I think they finished 88th or something, it's been awhile since the Rebs weren't dwelling outside the top 100 in total defense.

There are still some issues and concerns. They give up a few to many big plays and North Texas gouged them when they went up tempo. Might be something other teams try to exploit.

But they've been really good after halftime allowing only 7 points to both Cal and N. Texas.

I thought with the loss of Jacoby, plus DC Hansen leaving and B. Scott injury (Not to mention down two projected starters in the secondary) this unit would struggle more.

We are above where I expected to be both offensively and defensively. Defense has been a pleasant surprise. Transfers and development have increased the talent and production (especially pass rush) despite the loss of Windmon.

Rebs are currently top 30 in total offense and passing efficiency.

Again early...They had the game vs ISU that padded those stats some. North Texas is not very good defensively but it's a like opponent in terms of overall talent level.

Some encouraging signs for sure.
