Today may cement UNLV along side USF and Depaul. We’ve fought the cancer for years but the patient may just finally accept its fate and succumb to oblivion today.
What UNLV needs most of all is the one thing it’s supporters lack the most... patience. Joe is correct, the University has very real problems that run to its core and infects many parts of the institution, not just athletics. But for that department the problem is aggravated by a complete lack of recognition of the perception of its main program, MBB, as being a mediocre mid-major compounded by a delusional fan base making the HC job highly unattractive to legitimate candidates. Rather than take its time, repair it’s reputation and rehabilitate the patient - which it almost did with Good then Kruger - UNLV and it’s fans believe their own hype, make rushed, imprudent decisions and then are shocked, again, to learn that it is the ugly girl at the dance still waiting to be courted.
