Inside the Headset: Barry Odom

Though I think he would succeed in the NFL, in college he has buy in from the kids to build a program.

In the nfl, he’d have to get buy in from his employees to work harder. Strictly business.

I hate that the nil is changing college to be semi pro. But as it is, there are still enough kids out there where a scholarship still means something.

Odom is a very impressive coach. I can actually see him more NFL type HC tbh. Hopefully the Raiders don't notice lol.
Not sure. I think there are some unique differences in the management of a program/franchise. Grown men with huge contracts vs kids becoming men with, well, used to be no contracts. Sometimes one is easier to reach than the other.

I like his demeanor with our team, I like that he’s high expectation and accountability. Not saying you don’t do that in the pros either, but his way, at least for us, seems to really resonate with our players.

He took over a bad program with some marginal players, added some talent in and he made it work, appears he got heavy buy in. That’s not easy but he did it.

The Detroit Lion's HC has been able to do the same. Take a franchise who was Barry Sanders and turn it into a favorite to with the SB.

Few have that ability.
