we should have directed the money from the new scoreboard to NIL. IT WAS A $5 MILLION SCOREBOARD. THAT COULD HAVE FUNDED US FOR AT LEAST 7 -10 YEARS. PAY EACH PLAYER 10,000 TO 100,000. AND USE THE NEW TICKET SALES TO GET A SCOREBOARD PREFERABLY A BETTER ONE THAN WE HAVE NOW.

The cost of college is high because the greed of students who want to go to out of school colleges for the experience instead of staying in state with much lower tuitions. I don't want to pay for their education because they are too lazy to pay for it themselves, or unwilling to go to a cheaper school. Maybe the idea of working a job and going instate is better than borrowing money to go out of state.

IMO, the cost is high because nearly unlimited loans are available and students are not thinking about how they will pay them back. If students had to come out-of-pocket for college, costs would drop by 50% or more within a year.

If they only gave out loans to STEM and pre-med majors we'd see the cost of colleges drop and student loans debt would magically decrease since stupid people wouldn't be wasting time and money on crappy degrees for low paying jobs(that's IF they don't drop out which most will anyway). I'd also allow loans for people pursuing skilled labor training. Gender studies? Social work? Maybe only allow those loans to students with a 3.5 gpa in high school and near-perfect attendence but the rest better join the military or save up.

It will only get worse.

Uncle Joe hasn't required graduates to pay back loans or interest for two years. He's set to extend that for another year. My guess is graduates will never be required to pay back loans. Once you start a give-away you can't stop it.

This means Doctors making $200,000 a year will be subsidized by Truck Drivers making $60,000 a year. Sounds about right for a president that cares about the common man.

On a personal note, this turns me into a fool for busting my ass and paying for college for my grandchildren so they could start out debt-free.

Excellent point. That would have required strategy, forethought, and a passion for winning None of which this administration has an ounce of.

Not disagreeing. But, wasn't the new scoreboard in 2018, long before NIL?
And paid for by Boyd gaming? I could be wrong.
Still the money could have been given to students for tuition.
So could the money for Mendenhall, I guess.

It the cart before the horse. If we sign better players which means more wins ( u would think) which means more ticket sales. U COULD use that for what ever pet project you think it should go to. 2018 MAYBE? This has been in the works for several years. Everyone new this day was coming! Regardless the money is here in Vegas to fund NIL!!! Thought if we had a HOMERUN hire some maybe some of the WHALE in Vegas money would of came on board!

Everyone is searching for this rich benefactor who will save UNLV athletics. Let’s hit up Findlay and have him drop 100K.

We have no Magwitch.

Instead of a home run hire we received a “Bunt” of a hire and no recruiting panache moving forward as a result.

If only I had taken my life savings and spent it on buying up bitcoin back when people were using it to buy pizza.

The 5 million to buy the scoreboard. Thats not chicken scratch. There is money out there in Vegas we just have to put us in position to attract that money. I am going to use a extreme example. If we hired Pitino and he started to win at a high level with players not attracting the BIG $$$. u dont think people (whales) would come out of the wood work to attach themselves to UNLV??? i DO !! Nobody is going to direct that much $ to a unproven coach so he can attract some good players.

This is the correct take, predatory loans are issued to students with ease. In response, tuition skyrockets because, hey, free money!
